In a written statement issued Friday, Thomas apologized, saying, “I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians.”

 

She said the comments “do not reflect” her “heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance.”

 

“May that day come soon,” she added.

 

Perhaps by "mutual respect and tolerance" she is referring to a cessation of lobbing rockets into Israel? Of car bombs? Homicide bombers? Probably not. And, since it's only one side doing that stuff, it's odd to call it "mutual".

 

When they start using the passive tense, they are trying to distance themselves from their words.

“Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine.”

 

Thomas went on to say that the Palestinian people “are occupied and it’s their land” and that Israelis should “go home” -- to Poland, Germany, America “and everywhere else.”

I have posted for years with a specialist on the Palestinian/Israel issues. He believes in God -but not the Bible's God. Well, God is God, but I also think that at least some of our religion is made up. Isn't that what Jesus was taking the Pharisees to task for? God told them to do X, and they did X⁶⁷+Y²-3r. And, I guess if we were all doing exactly and only what God told us to do, we wouldn't have hundreds of different denominations and sects.

 

Having said that, there is a solid Godly core to our religion, and that's the part that makes the secularists uncomfortable and they attempt to deny it with the red-herring of "made-up religion".

 

And, good for you for your persistence in fighting the good fight with your "specialist friend".
