Eleven hours before the House Oversight Committee would assemble to vote on holding FBI Director Wray in Contempt of Congress, the FBI agreed to permit members of the Oversight Committee to review an unclassified informant file that allegedly links President Joe Biden to a $5 million bribery scheme.

Wednesday evening, Comer canceled the 9 a.m. Thursday vote to hold Wray in contempt. In exchange, the FBI finally agreed to allow the members to review the document, a demand on which Comer insisted from nearly the beginning of the negotiations.:snip:

Barr slaps down Democrat claim that he ended Biden corruption investigation: 'Not true'

Former Attorney General Bill Barr is denying a claim by Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin that he and his handpicked prosecutor spiked a corruption allegation into Joe Biden and ended the investigation due to a lack of evidence.

"It’s not true," Barr told The Federalist on Tuesday. "It wasn’t closed down. On the contrary, it was sent to Delaware for further investigation."

Barr was responding to a comment from Raskin this week claiming that Barr’s office investigated a claim during the Trump administration from a confidential human source in an FD-1023 document alleging that Biden as vice president was involved in a criminal bribery scheme in exchange for policy favors.

Raskin claimed that Barr "spent the summer" with his team of prosecutors looking into the claim "determined there was no grounds to escalate from an initial assessment to a preliminary investigation" and "called an end" to the investigation due to lack of suspicion of "criminal activity.":snip:

Why is this man laughing? Devine’s take

Scott Johnson

June 12 2023

Last week I asked “Why is this man laughing?” Biden was yukking it up about about the House Oversight Committee’s digging on the FBI FD-1023 passing on the allegation that President Biden took a $5 million bribe from a Ukrainian energy company in return for a policy decision when he was vice president.

I think Biden is laughing in our face because the fix is in. In her New York Post column today Miranda Devine answers my question in a slightly different fashion. “Audacity is Joe Biden’s magic power,” she writes. “When the walls are closing in, he laughs in your face and dares you to come after him.”

(Snip)

Devine has a second column today: “Hunter Biden’s suspicious email on Ukraine raises red flag for classified doc probe.” She may not be the hardest working woman in show business, but she is certainly the woman working hardest on the Biden family business.

As a sort of yuk-yuk postscript, FBI spokesmen have issued a “Message from the FBI on the FD-1023 Request from Congress.” The message is addressed to “FBI colleagues” and posted on the site of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI. The message concludes: “As you’ve heard Director Wray say repeatedly, the FBI must always be committed to doing the right thing in the right way. We’ve attempted to achieve that in our handling of this [House] subpoena [of the FD-1023], striking an appropriate balance between upholding our commitment to cooperating with congressional oversight and protecting our confidential sources. We thought it was important for you, our FBI workforce, to have the full picture of our efforts on this matter.” Disregard the sound of muffled laughter in the background.
