ran and Saudi Arabia agreed to re-establish diplomatic relations Friday in a deal brokered by China, ending seven years of estrangement and jolting the geopolitical alignment of the Middle East….

China’s role in the talks marks a watershed moment for Beijing’s ambitions in the region, and another blow to the U.S. in a part of the world where it has waged war and spent hundreds of billions of dollars in providing security for allies. Along with Russia’s intervention in the Syrian civil war, China’s secret diplomacy is another sign of the U.S.’s struggle to maintain influence in the Middle East.

We are still paying for the fundamental foreign policy failures of the Carter administration – the mess in Iran being example #1.  I never thought we would see it’s like again.  But here we are.  Meanwhile the media here is obsessed with the latest development in transgenderism.  God help us.

Iran-Saudi rapprochement ‘fatal blow’ to US-Israeli project in region: Hezbollah
Saturday, 11 March 2023

A high-ranking Hezbollah official says the restoration of diplomatic ties between Iran and Saudi Arabia is a “fatal blow” to the American-Israeli project in the Middle East region.

Sheikh Naim Qassem, the Lebanese resistance movement's deputy secretary general, made the remark in a post on his Twitter account on Saturday after Tehran and Riyadh agreed to re-establish relations and re-open embassies in Chinese-mediated talks seven years after they had severed ties.

“The return of Iranian-Saudi relations is an important turning point for the stability, security and progress of the region, and it is the beginning of good things for their peoples and the peoples of the region,” Qassem wrote in an Arabic-language tweet.

“And it is a fatal blow to the American-Israeli project and makes it more precarious,” he added.
