Valin
BizPac Review Terresa Monroe-Hamilton Mar. 6 2023 The future Atlanta Public Safety Training Center, dubbed “Cop City” by radical leftists, was set on fire Sunday evening as Antifa terrorists violently attacked the facility and clashed with police officers resulting in 35 being arrested. Smoke and flames could be seen pouring out of equipment at the site as Fox 5 Atlanta showed a bulldozer and other pieces of equipment ablaze. SWAT arrived on the scene as night fell. As the incident was contained, many of the protesters scattered into the woods. A large number of law enforcement officials descended on the area after the protest began around 5:30 pm. Georgia State Troopers used their squad cars to block people from entering the site. During the encounter with hundreds of protesters, at least one Molotov cocktail was thrown, according to Fox 5 Atlanta. A reporter with the media outlet thought they heard shots just before 8 pm but have not confirmed it. (Snip) ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Mar 6, 2023 Around 5:30 p.m. on March 5, 2023, a large mob of masked Antifa militants launched an attack on police and property at the construction site of the Public Safety Training Center in Atlanta. They assaulted officers with explosives, firebombs, and rocks before setting construction equipment on fire. For months, far-left extremists from across the U.S. had been occupying the land southeast of Atlanta in an autonomous zone meant to sabotage construction efforts for the future first responder training center. Their violence escalated into a carjacking, assaults and eventually a deadly shooting in January. As revenge for the death of their gunman, who shot a Georgia state patrol trooper, they launched a terrorist attack in downtown Atlanta shortly after. 19 militants were charged with domestic terrorism in December and January. The latest attack on March 5 is part of a “Week of Action” announced by members of the movement.
Valin
Now The Progressive View.... “The Amount of Solidarity is Incredible Here”: Voices on the Frontlines of the Fight to Stop Cop City Mar. 6 2023 “A massive victory,” is how one participant, “Jean,” who spoke to It’s Going Down in a recent interview, described this weekend’s mobilization against “Cop City” in Atlanta. The movement is currently at a high-point, following an outpouring of support and rage over the brutal murder of Manuel “Tortuguita” Teran, an anarchist and forest defender, who was shot and killed by law enforcement during a raid on tree-sits and protest encampments on January 18th. Statements of solidarity and support have come in from across the Left and the environmental movement, spanning from the Sierra Club and 350.org, to grassroots collectives and organizations all over the US and the world. (Snip) This weekend also shows that the movement has staying power. For over two years, the autonomous and decentralized struggle to defend the Weelaunee forest has fought to oppose the construction of a massive corporate backed, 85 acre police counter-insurgency training facility, as well as a contested land grab by Ryan Milsap of Blackhall Studios, the company behind such films as Venom and the Jumanji reboots. Groups such as Community Movement Builders, which organizes in “working-class and poor Black communities” and local environmental coalitions have been at the the forefront of this battle, which has been marked by everything from marches organized by local school children to targeted property destruction claimed via anonymous communiques on websites like Scenes from the Atlanta Forest. As one forest defender described on a recent podcast: Quote People used to like to use this term: diversity of tactics, and we’ve gone a step further, we’ve created something that actually mimics the forest itself, this is an ecosystem of tactics. So it’s not a bunch of things working against or in-spite of each other, its several tactics working in conjunction and in relation to each other. Everything from the Muskogee stomp dance to marches of preschoolers to leafleting the community old-school style, to windows being smashed, to people building tree-houses in the forest and refusing to move. [It’s] punk shows and dance parties and religious services and garden planting…and a lot of these things are difficult for some people to understand why they matter; why they’re connected to each other, but its important to understand that we have to reach every aspect of human society. Valin
Southern Poverty Law Center Attorney Charged With Terrorism In Atlanta Riot Luke Rosiak Mar 6, 2023 An attorney with the far-left nonprofit Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) was arrested Sunday for allegedly committing domestic terrorism to stop a police facility from being built. The Atlanta police department said Sunday night that Thomas Webb Jurgens was among the 23 people charged after a “group of violent agitators used the cover of a peaceful protest of the proposed Atlanta Public Safety Training Center to conduct a coordinated attack on construction equipment and police officers. They changed into black clothing and entered the construction area and began to throw large rocks, bricks, Molotov cocktails, and fireworks at police officers.” According to the State Bar of Georgia, Thomas Webb Jurgens is an attorney for the SPLC who was admitted to the bar in 2021. He is one of only two of the 23 alleged agitators who were actually from Georgia, according to the police. On LinkedIn, Jurgens says he is a staff attorney for the SPLC’s Economic Justice Project, a former assistant public defender in Orlando, and a graduate of the University of Georgia. Public records reviewed by The Daily Wire matching the name and birthdate provided by Atlanta police match up with the job history on LinkedIn, showing the study of law at the University of Georgia and past residency in Orlando.
