Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming and Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska sit high atop former President Trump’s Republican hit list.

As Alaska and Wyoming hold primary elections on Tuesday, both federal lawmakers face voters for the first time since moving early last year to impeach Trump for his role in inciting the Jan. 6, 2021, storming of the U.S. Capitol.

While Cheney faces what public opinion polls suggest is near-certain defeat in her bid for a fourth two-year term representing Wyoming’s at-large House seat, Murkowski is all but certain to pass her first hurdle and advance to November’s general election.

Also in the spotlight in Tuesday’s contests – former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin - as the 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee and one-time darling of the right seeks to fill a vacant House seat.:snip:

Lawmakers, pundits react to Liz Cheney's loss in Wyoming: 'Girl, BYE'

Several Republican lawmakers and conservative pundits took to social media Tuesday night to share their thoughts after Rep. Liz Cheney — one of 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump — lost her primary election in Wyoming.

Cheney, who currently serves as vice-chair of the House's Jan. 6 committee investigating the Capitol protests, lost the Wyoming primary election to Republican Harriet Hageman, a Trump-backed primary challenger.

The conservative lawmaker and defense hawk immediately came under verbal attack from Trump and his allies, and in May of last year, she was ousted from her number-three House GOP leadership position.:snip:

SARAH PALIN ADVANCES BUT BEHIND DEM MARY PELTOLA

  • With voting complete in Alaska’s special U.S. House race on Tuesday — the state’s first ranked choice election — Democrat Mary Peltola was leading Republicans Sarah Palin and Nick Begich III in early returns with the most first-place votes, but the winner won’t be known until the last ballots are counted later this month.
  • This year Alaska’s party primaries have been replaced with open primaries – the top four runners advance to the poll.
  • Palin is also running in a separate special election to serve the remaining five months of Republican Don Young, who died in March after serving for 49 years.

Alaskan Senator Murkowski Is In Danger Of Losing Reelection

Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska is not projected to win reelection to a fifth term, a potential victory for former President Donald Trump’s political crusade against her, according to election modeling current as of Monday.

Murkowski risks losing the election to the other Republican candidate, Kelly Tshibaka, who has a 52% chance of winning, according to FiveThirtyEight, an election polling monitor. Murkowski, 78, has faced a steep primary challenge from Tshibaka, who is backed by Trump, after voting to impeach him in 2021 for his conduct on Jan. 6, 2021, during the storming of the U.S. Capitol.:snip:

This is also a problem for Lisa IMO. Point is, there comes a time, when its time to move on.
