Most people are familiar with the phrase “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me.”

The incendiary rhetoric that has engulfed our political system has demonstrated that especially violent words can cause hurt, even death, to others.

The most recent example is a California man who showed up last week at the Maryland home of Supreme Court Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Police say he had a gun, bullets, zip ties, and duct tape, and was intent on assassinating Kavanaugh before calling 911 and claiming he was suicidal.

He’s been charged with attempted murder.

 

Two years ago, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., stood outside the Supreme Court and delivered these fiery words to a crowd of demonstrators opposed to the reversal of Roe v. Wade: “I want to tell you, [Justice Neil] Gorsuch; I want to tell you, Kavanaugh. You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price. You won’t know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.”

Schumer later said, “I shouldn’t have used the words I used.” Too late. The damage had been done.:snip:

Commemorating 6/14 – The Congressional Baseball Massacre

oday is 6/14, a day that should live in infamy. This is the day that American democracy took a barbaric hit, when – five years ago on June 14, 2017 – the Democrat Party’s dangerous, violent rhetoric incited one of its members to attempt, and almost succeed in carrying out, the largest-scale political assassination in our nation’s history. On June 14, 2017, a Democrat tried to murder dozens of Republican Congressmen as they innocently gathered to play baseball at a field just outside the nation’s capital. The Democrat insurrectionist succeeded in seriously injuring Rep. Steve Scalise and three others, including two police officers, before brave law enforcement officials stopped him and saved the rule of law. This June 14 commemorates the five-year anniversary of the “Congressional Baseball Massacre” -- an actual domestic terror attack carried out by a Democrat.

The Democrat-run media will, of course, not air a special live broadcast marking this anniversary. Congress will not hold a series of solemn events or observe a moment of silence commemorating the deadly insurrection, and the president will not deliver a special address condemning the Democrat Party’s violent rhetoric as a threat to democracy. 

But the day must be commemorated nonetheless – so history remembers the time when one political party openly advocated violence against its political rivals and nearly succeeded in wiping several out.:snip:

Churches, Pro-Life Organizations Attacked 41 Times in Past 6 Weeks

The Washington Stand has found that there have been at least 41 separate incidents of violent attacks against churches, pro-life organizations, and pro-life property across the country since the May 2 leak of a draft Supreme Court decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization that indicated the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

These attacks include arson, vandalism, property theft, and property destruction.

These incidents do not include at least nine other occurrences of physical violence against pro-life advocates, threats of violence against churches, and illegal disruptions of church services that have unfolded within the same time frame.:snip:
