Pair of mice lost and other tangled tales

See what a little prayer can do?

[It's really July 25, 2010, but the date field only goes to 2009].

The big news is that I am ready to go back to work and that I have a job upon my return. Woo hoo! :D

I've been scrambling around to finish shopping, laundry and packing. I'll go back today, but plan to come home on the weekends. It is bittersweet as it's wonderful to be working again but I am sorry to say "goodbye" to my folks and my friends.

Yesterday evening, we went to Mass and I said "goodbye" to friends, old and new, including the visiting missionary priest from Benin. We had made friends only recently as we had invited him over to have dinner with us. It was a lovely and fun evening. At any rate, yesterday, we said goodbye and then went out to the car as we wanted to celebrate our last dinner together before I left.

We arrived at the restaurant and Mom couldn't find her purse! :o

We looked all over the car, but then realized that either in the church or in its parking lot, the purse had been dropped. We headed back to church.

On the way, I said silent prayers that we would find the purse, intact and with all of the belongings.

We rushed back to church, which was locked. Then we went to the rectory and our friend came to our help. Mom was very upset so it took a bit for our friend to understand that we needed to check the church.

We did this and did not find Mom's purse.

We looked out again at the parking lot, realizing that what must have happened was that the purse dropped when Mom had entered the car. But there was no purse.

Well, we understood that if her purse had been found by a parishioner, that she would get it back without a problem, but it was hard not to worry. I got into the driver's seat and had a thought; if someone found the purse, they might try to get in touch with us. This would mean either leaving a note at our door or calling and leaving a message. I told my folks of my idea and they agreed.

When we got home, I went inside to check the phone messages and Dad checked the front and back doors. The purse was at the back door with a note, saying that they had seen the purse in the parking lot and another car accidentally ran over it, spilling all of the contents out. Our good Samaritan picked everything up and left the purse with his name and number.

Mom called him right away to thank him and she plans to bake him a strudel.

Then we all gave thanks to God for His help in getting the purse back!

See what a little prayer can do? ;)

Updated: we called our friend back to let him know that we did get the purse and to thank him for his help.

Yay for little prayers!!
