Geee
Red State How is this not the biggest story in the country? I think we all know how. Janice Dean, who’s been a mainstay as the senior meteorologist on Fox News for years, appeared on Tucker Carlson last night. This time it wasn’t to give the weather or crack a few jokes in her typical style, but to share the pain and loss she and her family have suffered due to the Wuhan virus. Her husband lost both of his parents in nursing homes during the outbreak, tragic enough on its own. But the revelation that Gov. Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio were putting virus-positive patients back into these assisted living facilities by the thousands has made that much worse. Geee
Thousands of coronavirus patients sent back to nursing homes in New York under Cuomo order Thousands of elderly coronavirus patients returned to nursing home facilities, potentially putting vulnerable residents at risk, under a controversial executive order from New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. According to a count by the Associated Press, more than 4,300 elderly patients recovering from COVID-19 were sent back because of a March executive order meant to free up hospital beds. The policy was reversed earlier this month after more than 5,300 nursing home residents died from the virus, with Cuomo ordering the facilities not to readmit COVID-19 patients until they are fully recovered from the virus. Cuomo defended the policy, saying it was a preventative effort meant to ensure hospitals would not run short on beds if there was a massive influx of patients during the pandemic. Geee
Cuomo Now Blaming Trump for Disastrous State Directive on Nursing Homes Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-NY) is attempting to shift blame onto President Trump for a New York directive that sent coronavirus patients into nursing homes, risking the lives of elderly, vulnerable people. For weeks, despite access to the governor at daily press briefings, a fawning press failed to question the governor about an ill-conceived state directive that may be responsible for the staggering number of coronavirus deaths in New York nursing homes and adult care facilities. A March 25th state directive required such facilities to admit patients with either suspected or confirmed cases of the Wuhan coronavirus. The directive even prohibited these facilities from requiring a coronavirus test for patients being admitted from a hospital. Cuomo only reversed the disastrous policy earlier this month. Geee
Cuomo granted immunity to nursing home executives, after big-money campaign donation: report New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who signed legislation granting hospital and nursing home executives immunity from lawsuits related to the novel coronavirus last month, previously received a big-money boost from a powerful health care industry group, according to a new report. The Guardian reports that the New York State Democratic Committee, then backing Cuomo’s primary run in 2018, received more than $1 million from the Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA) -- a lobbying group for hospital systems, some of which own nursing homes.
