New report argues perils of mail-in voting go beyond fraud

A new report from a conservative group on the potential problems with large-scale mail-in votingargues that a recent push from states to send ballots to all registered voters for November's election would not only expose them to possible fraud but could likely result in a significant waste of taxpayer dollars.

The report, by the Honest Elections Project, cites problems that have already arisen in a number of states showing that including inactive voters – including those who have changed addresses or died – would result in money being spent on ballots that would never reach their intended recipients.

TRUMP SAYS ABSENTEE VOTING SAFER THAN UNIVERSAL MAIL-IN BECAUSE OF 'PROCESS' INVOLVED, FOLLOWING NJ ARRESTS IN FRAUD SCANDAL

“At the very least, mailing ballots to every registration on file – knowing that a significant number of registrations are erroneous or outdated – is a significant waste of scarce resources,” the report says, noting that a recent estimate from Clark County, Nevada predicted it would cost at least $323,000 to mail ballots to inactive registrants.

When ballots were sent to inactive voters in Nevada’s May primary, ballots were found piled up in post office trays, outside apartment complexes, and on community bulletin boards in and around Las Vegas. One report said ballots were even found in a trash can.:snip:

Minneapolis is sued over stacking ballot boards

“Minneapolis is not alone in its abuse of the law. The policy of Secretary of State Steve Simon has enabled jurisdictions throughout the state to do much the same as Minneapolis." - MVA

Willis Krumholz

July 11, 2020

In Minneapolis, absentee ballot review boards are being stacked with bureaucrats instead of election judges. The problem is that Minnesota law appears to require those examining, accepting, and rejecting absentee ballots to be election judges who are both Republicans and Democrats.

This is especially important in a year that could see well over a million absentee ballots cast in Minnesota, due to concerns about the coronavirus and local efforts to make the use of absentee ballots more widespread.

The problem isn’t unique to Minneapolis, but the voting-rights group Minnesota Voters Alliance (MVA) has just launched a suit in Hennepin County District Court against the city to change the practice, and require the city to use election judges from lists submitted by the major political parties in Minnesota.

Pro-Biden Super PAC Launches $24 Million Effort to Boost Vote-by-Mail in Swing States

A leading Super PAC working to elect former Vice President Joe Biden is launching a multi-million dollar initiative to boost vote-by-mail participation among communities of color in swing states this November.

Priorities USA Action, the largest Super PAC aligned with the Democrat Party, announced on Wednesday it would invest $24 million in mobilizing black and Latino voters to vote-by-mail ahead of the upcoming general election. The expenditure comes on top of an already announced $32 million effort to register new voters and bring legal challenges to election laws in swing states across the country.

“In addition to our $32 million voting rights effort, we are investing $24 million in mobilization, vote-by-mail, and persuasion campaigns aimed at Black and Latino Voters in [six] states,” Guy Cecil, the PAC’s chairman, wrote on social media when announcing the new investment.:snip:

Ozzie Myers, Corrupt Former 'Abscam' Congressman, Busted for Vote Fraud

Disgraced former Congressman Michael Ozzie Myers (D-Penn.) is staring at a laundry list of federal criminal charges starting with conspiring to violate voting rights, according to a statement released Thursday by the U.S. Justice Department.

The conspiracy charge is tied into “stuffing the ballot boxes for specific candidates in the 2014, 2015, and 2016 primary elections, bribery of an election official, falsification of records, voting more than once in federal elections, and obstruction of justice,” the DOJ revealed.:snip:

Yes America, there is voter fraud.  These recent cases prove it.

Many news media, political activists and social media giants have gotten on the bandwagon that voter fraud is fiction. It is not.

A review of court cases and recent indictments – including one this week in Philadelphia against a former congressman – finds there have been at least four dozen cases in criminal and civil court since the last presidential election in 2016 in which voter fraud has led to charges, convictions, lawsuits or plea deals.

The schemes have ranged from old fashion ballot box stuffing to absentee and mail-in ballot fraud.:snip:

USPS Fails Mail-In Ballot Test

CBS News decided to test the system upon which the government will entrust the sanctity of the ballot this November. And the U.S. Postal Service flubbed it.

This is not about gaming the system, or voter fraud, or stuffing the mail with fake ballots from illegal aliens. This is about the competency of the USPS to deliver official ballots sent through the mail on time, and to the right people. They proved that the 100 million or more Americans who plan to mail in their ballots should not expect their vote to be counted unless they mail it weeks prior to the election deadlines in each state.:snip:

Illinois Sued After Refusing to Disclose Statewide Voter Data

Election officials in Illinois have been hit with a lawsuit after refusing to turn over the state's voter-roll data for inspection.

The Public Interest Legal Foundation (PILF), an election-integrity watchdog, filed the complaint Monday against Illinois State Board of Elections officials. The officials, the complaint alleges, refused to provide a statewide voter file and voting history data as required under federal law. The watchdog is attempting to inspect the state's voter rolls for potential irregularities.

"Illinois has stood in opposition to federal law for too long," said PILF communications director Logan Churchwell. "The public has a right to inspect the state's voter records to ensure they are accurate ahead of the 2020 election and any time in the future."

Illinois has long been plagued with voter-roll irregularities. Earlier this year, state election officials publicly acknowledged that a "computer error" in an automatic voter registration system—which Democrats are pushing to implement across the country—led to hundreds of noncitizens being added to voter rolls. More than a dozen of those individuals cast ballots in the 2018 and 2019 elections. Chicago has also faced scrutiny over ballots cast in the name of deceased individuals. The PILF previously found 17 counties in Illinois that had more registered voters than people living in those counties.:snip:

Trump: New York's mail-in voting mess should be warning for November

President Trump on Friday pointed to the still-undecided election results in New York’s 12th Congressional District, which was inundated with absentee ballots on June 23, as an example of the chaos looming if states rely on universal mail-in voting in the November presidential election.

“They’re never going to have the result of that election — never the correct result,” Mr. Trump told reporters at the White House. “Thousands and thousands of ballots are missing.”

He said if mail-in voting is expanded on a national scale in November, “You won’t know the election result for weeks, months, maybe years after.”:snip:

Group sends hundreds of thousands of 'potentially misleading' ballot applications

A voter registration group is sending hundreds of thousands of mail-in and absentee ballots to voters in states that do not automatically mail the ballot applications themselves.

The Center for Voter Information, a 501(c)4 nonprofit advocacy organization, is responsible for the mail-in ballot applications, in an apparent attempt to promote the voting method President Trump has repeatedly condemned.

The mailings contain legitimate ballot applications, but at first glance appear to be from a government source, which is “potentially misleading” for recipients, according to election officials.

The Center for Voter Information, which is affiliated with nonprofit called the Voter Participation Center, has sent over 800,000 mail-in ballot applications, aiming to “empower” eligible voters with a focus on unmarried women, people of color and young voters, according to the Washington Examiner. :snip:

The Washington Post’s ‘Fact Checker,’ Not Pence, Deserves the 4 Lying ‘Pinocchios’

Glenn Kessler, the so-called “fact checker” at The Washington Post, this week called out Vice President Mike Pence’s answer to an interview question about election fraud. But it’s Kessler, not Pence, who deserves four “Pinocchios” for many of the misleading claims he makes about it in his column.

Pence said: “Make no mistake about it. The reality of voter fraud is undeniable. We’ve seen case after case around the country where there have been prosecutions.”

Kessler concentrates on a case in Indiana that the vice president—a former governor of that state—mentioned in passing, and the dispute is over the timing and exact details.

Fraudulent voter registrations were submitted by 12 individuals working for the Indiana Voter Registration Project, which, according to Kessler, was “associated with Patriot Majority USA.”:snip:
