ITHACA, N.Y. –– Protesters standing in solidarity with the indigenous Wet’suwet’en people blocked traffic Wednesday morning on Green and Cayuga Streets for over an hour.

The protesters have taken issue with the construction of the Coastal GasLink pipeline in British Columbia on what is traditional Wet’suwet’en land. The pipeline is being constructed by TransCanada –– the company that garnered national media attention in 2015 for its proposed Keystone XL pipeline.

“We have successfully blocked off traffic in solidarity with Wet’suwet’en, we’re standing against the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and the Coastal GasLink pipeline,” one of the protestors, Maya Soto, said. RCMPs had moved to evict Wet’suwet’en people late last week, according to organizers.

I have a solution to this. Mass Dictates Policy.
