The New York Times marks the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall with a photo essay, and quotes historian and writer Anne Applebaum saying, “It was not a triumph of good over evil. It was basically incompetence — and chance.” Bill Whittle, Stephen Green and Scott Ott remember it differently.

Hoover Institution fellow Peter Robinson as well as many scholars and historians review the history of the Berlin Wall, the hardships it caused, and how its ultimate fall led to the collapse of the USSR, but, unfortunately, not the demise of support for socialism, communism, and dictators.
