The Department of Justice inspector general’s much anticipated report on alleged FISA abuse ahead of the 2016 election is expected to be released before Thanksgiving and will contain several criminal referrals, including one for former FBI Director James Comey, according to sources who spoke with investigative journalist Sara Carter."""

DOJ IG Michael Horowitz’s report will lead to the declassification of documents long requested by senior Republican lawmakers, Carter reported. Included among these documents will be certain email chain between the anti-Trump FBI investigators in the Russia probe and Comey.

"Those documents will contain several classified pages of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act on former Trump campaign advisor Carter Page, exculpatory evidence that was withheld from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, the so-called ‘Gang of Eight’ folder (which contained exculpatory information), as well as the email chain between FBI investigators in the Russia probe and then-FBI Director James Comey. Those emails also include discussions with lawyers in the DOJ’s national security division. As previously reported, the email chains will contain information that prove the FBI knew prior to obtaining a warrant to spy on Page that former British spy Christopher Steele’s information in his infamous dossier on Trump could not be proven.

It is also expected to reveal that the FBI knew that Steele was leaking to the media but then used those media reports as separate evidence in their request for a FISA warrant, known as circular intelligence reporting. Circular reporting is when a law enforcement official uses false confirmation by making a piece of information appear to come from multiple independent sources.":snip:

Chuck Grassley: If the Inspector General Report on FISA Abuse Isn't Done Soon, We Know It's a Game

Former Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley has been asking for weeks: Where is the Department of Justice Inspector General report about FISA abuse and the origins of the Russia probe?

The final version was supposed to be made public in June. It's now November. It's been reported Inspector General Michael Horowitz is working to get the report out before Thanksgiving, but we aren't holding our breathe.

The lengthy delay is raising questions among lawmakers about how the report may be edited and whether allies of James Comey at the FBI are involved. :snip:

AG William Barr Says Release Of FISA Report Is ‘Imminent’

Attorney General William Barr said Wednesday that the release of an inspector general’s report on FBI’s surveillance of the Trump campaign is “imminent.”

Multiple news outlets reported Tuesday that Michael Horowitz, the Justice Department inspector general, has invited witnesses interviewed in connection with the investigation to review portions of the forthcoming report. The step is routine in investigations conducted by inspectors general, and typically signals that the release of the report is near.

Horowitz told lawmakers in June that his investigators had interviewed more than 100 witnesses and reviewed more than 1 million documents during the investigation, which began in March 2018.

Barr confirmed during a press conference on Tuesday that the Horowitz report is forthcoming.

“It’s been reported and it’s my understanding that it is imminent,” Barr told reporters in Memphis, according to Politico.:snip:
