Pelosi Announces House Resolution To Condemn Trump's ‘Xenophobic Tweets’

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Monday urged House Democrats to back a new resolution to condemn President Trump after the president tweeted over the weekend that "progressive Democratic congresswomen" should "go back" to their home countries.

"The House cannot allow the President’s characterization of immigrants to our country to stand. Our Republican colleagues must join us in condemning the President’s xenophobic tweets," Pelosi wrote in a letter to House Democrats. She said there is a "forthcoming" resolution from five Democratic members who were born in other countries.

"This weekend, the president went beyond his own low standards using disgraceful language about members of Congress," Pelosi continued. "Rather than attack members of Congress, he should work with us for humane immigration policy that reflects American values."

On Saturday, Trump ripped members of the new progressive wing of the Democratic Party.

"So interesting to see 'Progressive' Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly ... and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run," Trump wrote on Twitter.

"Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how ... it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!" the president wrote.

Trump never mentioned Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ("AOC") of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan or Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, but it was fairly clear who he was targeting.

President Trump has doubled and tripled down on an argument that unites the Democrats against him when they were divided. Trump is doing this on purpose.

Trump wants the House to impeach him and soon, if not already, there will be no way for Pelosi to stop it:

Houston Congressman Al Green announced he plans to bring a vote to impeach President Trump to the House of Representatives by the end of the month.

In a press conference Monday, Green said he felt compelled to lead this effort because of recent demeaning statements President Trump made.

Trump knows the Senate will not convict him — notice how few Republican Senators are condemning him — and he doesn’t care what he has to do to get re-elected. With the Mueller Report over, Trump could run against the media but that might not be enough. Impeachment is the best way to create an US VS THEM election, and Trump likes the binary choice model.
