WestVirginiaRebel
The Blaze An adviser to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) appeared on Tucker Carlson's Fox News show Friday, where he appeared to lie straight to Carlson's face about the infamous Green New Deal. What happened? When questioned about the Green New Deal's proposal to guarantee "economic security to all who are unable or unwilling to work," Cornell University law professor Robert Hockett told Carlson such a provision does not actually appear in Ocasio-Cortez's Green New Deal. Carlson asked: "Why would we ever pay people who are 'unwilling to work?'" Hockett responded: "Uh...I...we never would, right? And AOC has never said anything like that. I think you're referring to some sort of document that...some doctored document that somebody other than us has been circulating." Carlson responded by sarcastically "thanking" the professor for correcting him, laughing at the "ridiculous proposal." But what's the truth? The segment generated a lot conversation on social media after a Media Matters researcher flagged the segment, claiming Hockett "debunk all the conservative media lies" about the Green New Deal. However, archived versions of the Green New Deal FAQ page — it was removed from Ocasio-Cortez's website after generating widespread mockery and scorn — show the Green New Deal does, in fact, guarantee "economic security to all who are unable or unwilling to work." ________ The truth hurts no matter how much you try to deny it...
