Chickadee
Grapes of Love GRAPES OF LOVE * Fresh green grapes (red or to taste) * Small sticks, toothpicks or appetizer picks * 1 cup sugar * ½ cup light corn syrup * ¾ cup water * Green dye (or other flavor) Push a stick into each grape. With a paper towel, wipe the skin of grapes and the stick, then set aside. On a cookie sheet, prepare a sheet of parchment paper, ready to receive the grapes coated with syrup. In a heavy saucepan or copper, mix sugar, corn syrup and water. Without stirring, bring to a boil over moderate heat until thermometer reads 250-300°F. Remove from heat, add a few drops of food coloring, mix well (careful, the syrup is extremely hot!) One by one, gently coat the grapes with syrup and place on sheet of parchment paper holding it upright until it stands firmly (it only takes a few seconds to set the syrup and thus it is possible to get the grapes to stand up straight by taking a few moments to hold them in position). Allow to set completely and serve. * Makes about three dozen grapes of love. View full recipe
