This theme is prevalent again and again in the research in fetal tissue. Any applicable treatment is hampered by the difficulty of use and scarcity of the source material. Fetal tissue has severe limitations in applications outside of basic research.

Why does this matter? For one, the $76 million taxpayer dollars the National Institute of Health spent on fetal tissue research in 2014 need to actually improve health outcomes for patients if it’s to live up to its promise of saving lives. NIH is projected to spend the same amount per year in 2015 and 2016

 

There are only 19 active or completed clinical trials using fetal tissue shown at Clinicaltrials.gov. Many also use tissue sources that don’t require killing babies, such as from umbilical cord blood and foreskin from circumcisions. The study in that database that primarily uses fetal tissue is titled “Safety Study in Retinal Transplantation for Dry Age Related Macular Degeneration.” It aims to “test the safety of transplanting human fetal neural retinal tissue and retinal pigment epithelium into the eyes of human patients with age-related macular degeneration.”

 

In other words, they want to graft fetal neural retina tissue onto the eyes of elderly people with failing eyesight. If the study improves the eyesight of the elderly better or cheaper than Lasik, supply is going to be an issue. This is where science and research meet supply and demand, i.e. reality. If you are going to fund and investigate a procedure that will never be scalable in the real world, unless our society decides to increase abortions and fetal harvesting to help improve the eyesight of the elderly, science is going to have to invent another way to solve these problems.

Fifth Planned Parenthood video to be released

A fifth video from an anti-abortion group that has published recordings of Planned Parenthood officials discussing the transfer and price of fetal tissue is being released Tuesday, according to the group.

 

The Center for Medical Progress’s David Daleiden said Tuesday morning that the latest video to be released would be similar to the first four, which have led to a defunding fight over Planned Parenthood.

 

“Perhaps it's going to be even more shocking,” Daleiden said on CNN's “New Day,” adding, “You're going to see evidence in it of how Planned Parenthood is willing to sell fully in-tact fetuses to buyers of aborted fetal tissue.”

Daleiden’s group has faced a pair of court orders blocking the release of some videos that it secretly recorded, including at the National Abortion Federation's annual conference and with officials from a California fetal tissue company.

 

But the group has said it plans to release other videos not affected by the court rulings.

New Hampshire defunds Planned Parenthood facilities

 

The New Hampshire executive council ended Wednesday state funding of Planned Parenthood, the latest move to defund the organization in the wake of graphic undercover videos accusing the organization of profiting from fetal-tissue sales.

 

A majority of the state executive council — councilors Chris Sununu, David Wheeler and Joe Kenney — voted to terminate the state’s contract with Planned Parenthood of Northern New England over the objections of Democratic Gov. Maggie Hassan.

 

Ms. Hassan blasted the move in a Wednesday statement, saying, “I am incredibly disappointed in the outcome of today’s vote.”

U.S. Government Made ‘Humanized’ Mice With Tissue from Babies 17- to 22-Weeks Gestational Age

 

(CNSNews.com) - A group of government researchers working for a National Institutes of Health laboratory in Montana made “humanized mice” by implanting the mice with tissues cut from human livers and thymuses taken from babies at 17 to 22 weeks gestational age.

 

The researchers then published a paper describing how they constructed this particular type of “humanized” mouse, saying they hoped their description of the process would help other researchers seeking to make such mice in the future.

 

The same government researchers had collaborated on another journal article about the “humanized” mouse with an NIH-funded researcher at Massachusetts General Hospital--which has an ongoing federal grant that also involves humanizing mice using human fetal livers and thymuses.

 

The NIH could not answer some basic questions about the fetal tissue used in these research projects that U.S. taxpayers funded.

The latest video from the Center for Medical Progress is not an undercover sting operation, but rather an interview with former blood and tissue procurement technician Holly O’Donnell, who worked for a biotech company called StemExpress.

 

StemExpress has been referenced in several previous videos as the primary customer for tissue and organs harvested from children aborted at Planned Parenthood clinics. In this video, O’Donnell alleges that such harvesting was often undertaken without the knowledge or consent of the pregnant women.

 

 

O’Donnell says that the pressure from her employers to procure valuable fetal tissue made her mission to harvest organs not an “option,” but a “demand.” She charges that techs working Planned Parenthood clinics didn’t always take the time to actually make that demand of the abortion mill’s clients: “If there was a higher gestation, and the technicians needed it, there were times when they would just take what they wanted. And these mothers don’t know. And there’s no way they would know.”

 

In fact, O’Donnell went even further and described the harvesting of baby parts against the explicit instructions of at least one pregnant woman she worked with.

StemExpress, one of the tissue companies that works with Planned Parenthood, is cutting its ties with the women’s health organization after a series of sting videos that have prompted congressional inquiries, sources tell POLITICO.

 

The small biomedical tissue procurement company is distancing itself from Planned Parenthood after finding itself tangentially linked to what abortion opponents allege is Planned Parenthood’s illegal trafficking of fetal tissue and organs.

When the Daily Signal published the names of 41 Planned Parenthood corporate donors, Coca-Cola, Ford Motor Co., and Xerox all vehemently denied any affiliation. They requested their names be removed from Planned Parenthood’s website, but the abortion provider subsequently removed the list entirely. It’s not clear why exactly StemExpress is cutting ties, but could it be that Planned Parenthood is acquiring a stigma?

 

Because abortion is a cornerstone of its larger project of sexual liberation, it will be defended tooth and nail. But perhaps the recent videos are proving that its cultural purchase is not invulnerable.
