RadioShack to Shut 1,100 Stores as 4Q Sales Plunge

@NCTexan @SrWoodchuck @Valin @Casino67

This says more about the type of education that middle and high school kids have gotten over the past 30 years than it does about how Tandy runs its stores.

Children raised to exploit their natural curiosity on how to build things, including things electrical and mechanical, would create a market for these stores.

Which means we needed adults capable of teaching things electrical and mechanical to the younger generation.

How many young kids know how to change oil, change a flat, gap and change spark plugs?

I was working as a temp for Donaldsons and they hired me full time because I knew how to replace a limit switch, I mean we're talking two screws.

I was running a pleater (making air filters) "Carl the limit switch broke, bring me a new one and a screwdriver. You know how to fix a limit switch? Well...yeah..factory work...this is what I do."

I don't know if you spend much time around temps, but very often there is a real good reason why they're temps....if you know what I mean.

You're lucky the Union Boss did not come down on you hard. I was at a trade show once in NY and needed to move a couple of computers in the display (which means unplugging them and plugging them back in). You would have thought I had committed a felony. When I was 1/2 way thru and the Union guys showed up screaming no one can do that but us!

You may be mistaking Bush for Reagan, @Valin. His Santa Barbara ranch was bordered in the south by avocado farms. My parents house above Ojai, looked down on miles & miles of them.

Ohio School Suspends 10-Year-Old Boy For Pointing Finger Like A Gun… http://weaselzippers.us/178097-ohio-school-suspends-10-year-old-boy-for-pointing-finger-like-a-gun/

Mickey-Mouse-Air-Gun-Hands-Men-s-T-Shirt

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) —

A central Ohio principal says she suspended a 10-year-old boy from school for three days for pretending his finger was a gun and pointing it at another student’s head.

The boy’s father says he thinks it’s the adults who are acting childish after the boy was suspended from Devonshire Alternative Elementary School in Columbus last week.

The fifth-grader said he was “just playing around.” But district spokesman Jeff Warner tells The Columbus Dispatch that Devonshire Principal Patricia Price has warned students about pretend gun play numerous times this year, and everyone should know the rules by now.

I blame the parents.

These kids should have been taught finger safety.

They could put an eye out with those things.

When gun-fingers are outlawed....only outlaws will have gun-fingers.

They can have my gun-finger, when they pry my cold dead ha..........er......

Couldn't he get a license for concealed carry & just keep it in his pocket?

Egypt deports US anti-war activist travelling to Gaza
Medea Benjamin, who co-founded the CodePink anti-war group, was detained on arrival in Cairo airport on Monday.
3/4/14

AFP - Egypt on Tuesday deported an American anti-war activist who was trying to travel to the Gaza Strip, airport officials and the activist herself said.

Medea Benjamin, who co-founded the CodePink anti-war group, was detained on arrival in Cairo airport on Monday. She had planned to join a delegation of activists on a visit to the Palestinian coastal enclave this week.

She told AFP airport police broke her arm during her detention before putting her on a flight to Istanbul.

Israel seizes arms shipment

Dan Williams

JERUSALEM Wed Mar 5, 2014 2:34pm EST

(Reuters) - The Israeli navy seized a ship in the Red Sea on Wednesday that was carrying dozens of advanced Iranian-supplied rockets made in Syria and intended for Palestinian guerrillas in the Gaza Strip, the military said.

The disclosure came as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was in the United States to press his case for tougher international action against Iran over its disputed nuclear program and support for Islamist guerrilla groups.

The Panamanian-flagged cargo vessel Klos C was boarded in international waters without resistance from its 17-strong crew in a "complex, covert operation," military spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Peter Lerner told reporters.

Lerner said dozens of M302 rockets were found aboard the Klos C, a weapon which could have struck deep into Israel from Gaza and would have significantly enhanced the firepower of the Palestinian enclave's Hamas rulers and other armed factions.
