Government Shutdown/Obamacare Thread II

Two things that I've noted:

1.) The screaming that "It's the law!" B. S. It's a partisan bill passed by a parliamentary trick, with locked doors & without reading it.....to find out what was in it. It's the law like Slavery, Prohibition....and the border fence that got passed, but never funded.

2.) The reason that people are losing their health care....is not technically the ACA....it is arbitrary HHS regulations that are pushed by Oblamer & Sebelius. She has the ultimate control over the application of the ACA.....and just like she can grant waivers to young girls that need transplants [after a public shaming] she could create a better & smoother way of applying ACA....except that would hinder the march to "single payer" which is the goal of their fundamental change.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/10/30/claims-about-obamacare-come-back-to-haunt-administration/

"Starting today, you and your friends and your family and your coworkers can get covered, too. Just visit healthcare.gov, and there you can compare insurance plans, side by side, the same way you'd shop for a plane ticket on Kayak or a TV on Amazon" -- Obama

"Here's a guarantee that I've made," Obama says in the video. "If you have insurance that you like, then you will be able to keep that insurance."

"Nobody is trying to change what works in the system," Obama says. "We are trying to change what doesn't work in the system."

"If you like your plan, and you like your doctor, you won't have to do a thing," Obama said. "You keep your plan. You keep your doctor. If your employer is providing you with good insurance, terrific! We're not going to mess with it."

OUCH

Even Chrissy Snow Knows a Terrible Government Program When She Sees It http://iowntheworld.com/blog/?p=210495

BigFurHat writes:

I’m posting this because the comment section of the WSJ was lit up with lefties. There seemed to be an inordinate amount of people who suddenly hated hearing from an actress. And anecdotal stories were suddenly hogwash, even though Obama uses them all the time.

SUZANNE SOMERS: As a writer of 24 books mostly on health and wellness and by using my celebrity to get to the best and brightest doctors, scientists and medical professionals in the alternative and integrative health-care world, I have come to the following conclusions:

First of all, let’s call affordable health care what it really is: It’s socialized medicine.

I’ve had an opportunity to watch the Canadian version of affordable health care in action with all its limitations with my Canadian husband’s family. A few years ago, I was startled to see the cover of Maclean’s, a national Canadian magazine, showing a picture of a dog on an examining table with the headline, “Your Dog Can Get Better Health Care Than You.” It went on to say that young Canadian medical students have no incentive to become doctors to humans because they can’t make any money. Instead, there is a great surge of Canadian students becoming veterinarians.

That’s where the money is. A Canadian animal can have timely MRIs, surgeries and any number of tests it needs to receive quality health care.

My sister-in-law had to wait two months to get a General Practitioner. During this period she spent her days in bed vomiting continuously, unable to get any food or drink down because she couldn’t get an appointment with the doctor.

When she finally did, the doctor said, “Oh you don’t need me, you need a specialist.” That took another two weeks until she got a pill that corrected the problem.

Really, is this what we want?

All of my husband’s cousins are doctors. Several have moved to the U.S. because after their years of intensive schooling, they want to reap financial rewards.

My 75-year-old Canadian girlfriend was denied treatment because she was too old. She died recently, having been given palliative care. That’s all the system would allow.

Affordable care will allow for pre-existing conditions. That’s the good part for retirees. But, let’s get down and dirty; the word “affordable” is a misnomer. So far, all you are hearing on the news is how everyone’s premiums are doubling and tripling and it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to recognize that the whole thing is a big mess. Plus, even after Obamacare is fully implemented, there still will be tens of millions of people not covered. So what’s the point? Medical care will be degraded, the costs will skyrocket, and most frightening of all, your most intimate and personal information is now up for grabs.

Comment from a post @ iOTW:

This just in

The FBI has issued a warning about fake Healthcare.gov websites that have sprung up in a scheme to steal your identity.

One of the ways you can tell that the site is a phony is that you’ll actually be able to log on to it.....

7 Most Ridiculous Things Kathleen Sebelius Said At Today’s Hearing

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, the head orchestrator of ObamaCare, testified before Congress this morning to answer questions about the health law’s failings. Why did the website cost so much? Why are there so many glitches and errors? Why, despite Obama’s promises, are millions of Americans losing their health coverage thanks to ObamaCare?

Sebelius, if anything, only offered more excuses and raised more concerns about just how seriously this White House is taking the full meltdown of ObamaCare. Check out these 7 most ridiculous things that Sebelius said at today’s hearing.

1. “Yes, he is.”

“Before, during and after the law was passed the president kept saying if you like your health care plan, you can keep it, so is he keeping his promise?” Rep. Marsha Blackburn asked. “Yes, he is,” Secretary Sebelius insisted.

Really, Mrs. Secretary? There are millions of people who disagree. Scissors-32x32.png

@clearvision, this just in: (and only because it benefits Google)

Google team brought in as part of health website fix

WASHINGTON — Technology giant Google has been recruited to help fix HealthCare.gov, the new federal insurance exchange website.

Software companies Red Hat and Oracle will also assist, according to Julie Bataille, spokeswoman for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which has coordinated the development of the site that has experienced numerous problems in its first month of operations.

"As part of the 'Tech Surge,' we've added key personnel from the government and private sector, including expert engineers and technology managers," Bataille wrote in a blog item posted Thursday. "These dozens of people are strengthening and reinforcing the team we have working 24/7 to address the problems around HealthCare.gov."

Is Healthcare.gov Violating Its Own Privacy Policy? http://weaselzippers.us/2013/10/31/healthcare-privacy/

It’s code, Jim, but not as we know it.

Via Ben Simo: http://blog.isthereaproblemhere.com/2013/10/does-healthcaregov-violate-their-own.html

HealthCare.gov uses a variety of Web measurement software tools. We use them to collect the information listed in the “Types of information collected” section above. The tools collect information automatically and continuously. No personally identifiable information is collected by these tools.

However, the system sends some personal information to 3rd party analytics and advertising companies. For example, the following two images show my username and password reset codes being sent to a couple of 3rd parties:

*Please go to website above to show username & password info revealed

Not only does this violate Healthcare.gov's stated privacy policy, it likely also violates the privacy policies of these 3rd parties. Even if the 3rd parties receiving the data can be trusted to not abuse the data, they may not protect it as personally identifiable information should be protected -- especially if they are not expecting to receive personal information.

Go to Ben Simo's site for an abundance of info.

Evidently Oblundercare is not reined in by HIPAA either.....so beware!
