State Department’s New “Faith-Based” Advisor Shaun Casey: “I Am Glad American Civil Religion Is Dying”… http://weaselzippers.us/2013/08/08/state-departments-new-faith-based-advisor-shaun-casey-i-am-glad-american-civil-religion-is-dying/

Kerry introduced Casey as a person who cares about faith in American society.

“Over the years, I’ve come to appreciate Shaun as a deeply thoughtful person who cares about the place of faith in our public life,” Kerry said.

The office is described by the State Department as a “portal for engagement with religious leaders and organizations around the world” and will be headed by Casey as “special advisor.”

As CNSNews.com reported earlier, Casey was a panelist at a discussion at the liberal Center for American Progress in January 2012. At that event Casey praised the demise of what he called “civil religion.”

“I, frankly, am glad American civil religion is dying,” said Casey, who is also a professor of Christian Ethics at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.

“There is also a negative underside to that history with respect to slavery, manifest destiny, to war, you know, to empires, so I, frankly, am glad American civil religion is dying,” Casey said of the mix of politics and religion at the discussion.

Jean-Jacques Rousseau, a Swiss-French philosopher, is credited with coining the term “civil religion” in his 1762 book in his series “The Social Contract.” Rousseau described civil religion as the “moral and spiritual foundation of modern society.”

Kerry cited the Bible’s New Testament in describing the new office’s mission, which he said would seek “common ground” between “all religions.”

“One of my favorite passages from the Scripture sums up what Shaun and I think this effort is really all about,” Kerry said. “It’s a familiar Gospel of Mark in which Jesus says to his disciples, ‘For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for the many.’”

Faith based religion where GOD is thrown out of the church and evil sits in the pews and preaches from the pulpit. It is the self serving pastor and his flock of political correct sheep who embrace perversion and tout its social justice meme. And then say loudly and mockingly, "this is what Jesus MEANT".

Find a Bible based church where GOD's laws are the supreme law and where the teachings of Christ are followed.

This New Infographic Seemingly Debunks One of the Most Crucial Anti-Gun Claims

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/08/08/this-infographic-seemingly-debunks-one-of-the-most-crucial-anti-gun-claims/

A new infographic published by the National Shooting Sports Foundation is bound to baffle gun control advocates as it seemingly debunks the main anti-gun argument — that more guns equal more crime and therefore make Americans less safe.

Using data from the Department of Justice, ATF, Pew Research Center, National Safety Council and Gallup, NSSF claims that gun crime has plummeted even as gun sales continue to skyrocket.

The data indicates that homicides with firearms are down 39 percent since 1991 while other crimes with guns are down 69 percent. The numbers also show that unintentional firearms fatalities are down 58 percent since 1991 and down 81.3 percent since 1929.

Hey Kids! What Time Is It? It's Time For The Week in Pictures:

Marthas Vineyard Edition

As President Obama heads off for his annual summer vacation with the common folk of Marthas Vineyard (now I know what youre thinking: cant he just stay there?), obviously the topic of the week is what didnt happen last week: a terror attack. Except perhaps we should ponder the idea that the chatter was in fact the terror attack? What do you call it when our chattering classes respond to chatter but shuttering 21 embassies? Leading from behind indeed! (And no puns on the behinds of our Dear Leader and his circle.)

Why Socialism and Wealth Redistribution Don’t Work and Cause MORE Poverty, Inequality, and Injustice http://socialismdoesntwork.com/why-socialism-doesnt-work/

Those rich people don’t need all that money. They don’t pay their fair share of taxes. And a lot of good can be done if all that money is taken away from those people, who don’t need it anyway, and is given to other less fortunate people so that they can have better opportunities to advance their lives.

The above paragraph seems to be the essence of liberal economic thought. I realize that many liberals these days object to the notion that what they really want is socialism. However, arguing nomenclature is of no substance. Therefore, I’m just going to say that the philosophy described above falls under the umbrella of socialism, and just call it that.

We can argue fairness all day long, but for now I want to tell you what happens when socialism or whatever you wish to call it, is deployed in an attempt to correct the perceived economic (or “social”) injustices of the world.

Many people who support socialism, do so because they want a fair, poverty free world, with justice for all. Therefore, if you support socialism, i.e. wealth redistribution and a large government that deploys a heavy set of social programs to achieve all that, I would just like to let you know of the following:

The socialist methods deployed to supposedly achieve a better world unleash an AVALANCHE of negative side effects that utterly dwarfs any of their original intentions, and brings more poverty, more inequality, more injustice, less prosperity, and more misery.

Scissors-32x32.png

Point by point destruction of the socialist model that Obamunists are trying to employ. Short, sweet & with perfect reason.

I could not bear to even check the "like" under the mural above.

That mural is despicable. The artist who was capable of creating it has a despicably distorted view of life, reality AND FACTS!

Just saw this on Newsbusters:

Apparently the NYT has been silent .

A federal judge has ruled that the creation of a cemetery trust fund in 2007 by then-Archbishop Timothy M. Dolan for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee – the subject of a lot of hysterical coverage a month ago in the New York Times – was a completely legitimate and warranted financial transfer.

"Because these funds were held in trust as prescribed by canon law, they were independent of the general assets and could only be used for their intended and pledged purpose – to care for the resting places of the departed as sacred places under canon law," according to the judge's statement published in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

After the ruling, SNAP's nasty National Director David Clohessy, issued what can only be described as a dishonest and vile media statement which recklessly smeared Cardinal Dolan by falsely accusing him of "misusing donations" and "fighting dirty."

I believe this is what AG Holder and others mean when they say we need an honest talk about racism.

OK, Rubio has greatly disappointed me in his working with "them" on the immigration bill. I do not find the fire and spirit I thought he would have as a conservative. Not saying I am agin him, just saying disappointed.

Lately I have been relooking at others.

I hear nothing but good things in the lsm about Chris Christie. Rush says he will be the Democrat nominee and now Ann Coulter who was a huge supporter has left him because of the immigration issue. I have NEVER liked him as a candidate.

Lately I hear nothing but negatives about Rand Paul in the lsm - like he is an isolationist, too libertarian, too tea party, yada , yada.. This has made me suspect he might have great merit.

I keep remembering how much I liked him when Rush or Hannity (cant rrecall which) interviewed him a couple years back and I really liked everything he said. He also at that time said he did not agree with his dad on foreign policy.

So I have been rereading about RAND Paul. Right now I like him. I have found nothing negative.

What do you all think? Any others?

@righteousmomma. Thus far I kind of like Rand Paul, but there are others that I liked that have disappointed me as time went on. Just biding my time and listening. Have noticed that Rand Paul is trying to get a lot of exposure everywhere. He has written a few columns for the Washington Times and today I posted one that he wrote for National Review. So I indeed think that he is trying to get his name around for 2016.

We all have to pray that Anthony "pulls it out" and wins the NYC mayoral race.

We need his face, flags, and whatever else he may be waving in the breeze as the high profile "image" of the DEM party ....

.... and spouse of the "wanna be" Chief of Staff for Hillary".

The pics here say all that need be said.
