Does the Constitution really require a strict separation of church and state? That phrase has become so commonplace that many people actually believe it is in the Constitution itself. It is not, of course. Indeed, the phrase reflects a view exactly opposite to what our nation’s Founders actually believed. For them, religion was indispensable for fostering the virtues necessary for successful self-government, and they sought to encourage it wherever they could. The Constitution’s prohibition on the “Establishment of Religion” was designed simply to prevent the federal government from creating a national religion and coercing people to support it, so that religion could flourish and individual freedom of conscience be protected. The fact is, as one Supreme Court justice famously noted, “We are a religious people, whose institutions presuppose a Supreme Being.” Watch the video and learn more.

Maxine Waters: ‘Obama Has Put In Place’ Secret Database With ‘Everything On Everyone’

The President has put in place an organization with the kind of database that no one has ever seen before in life," Representative Maxine Waters told Roland Martin on Monday.

"That's going to be very, very powerful," Waters said. "That database will have information about everything on every individual on ways that it's never been done before and whoever runs for President on the Democratic ticket has to deal with that. They're going to go down with that database and the concerns of those people because they can't get around it. And he's [President Obama] been very smart. It's very powerful what he's leaving in place."

Officials investigate Quabbin Reservoir trespassing

http://www1.whdh.com/news/articles/local/10010627947889/7-questioned-for-trespassing-at-quabbin-reservoir/#ixzz2TKHGJkrx

BELCHERTOWN, Mass (WHDH) -- Massachusetts State Police and the FBI are investigating a possible security breach at the Quabbin Reservoir near Belchertown after authorities found seven people trespassing there.

State Police said a trooper saw two cars parked at a reservoir park entrance at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, then saw five young men and two young women walking toward them from the reservoir.

Police said the male individuals claimed to be chemical engineers and were there for educational reasons. The individuals told state police they were recent college graduates from UMass Amherst and Smith College.

Officers on scene checked the vehicles, persons, and the park area and did not find anything suspicious. There was no evidence the seven were committing any crime beyond trespassing, according to police.

The Commonwealth Fusion Center was notified of the incident and provided with the identification of the seven individuals. State police said they are from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Singapore with addresses in Amherst, Cambridge, Sunderland and Northampton, and New York City. Police said law enforcement databases show no warrants, detainers or advisories on them.

The seven people will be summonsed to Eastern Hampshire District Court for the trespassing offense.

There is no evidence of terrorism.

The reservoir supplies drinking water to the Boston area. Officials said there is no danger to the drinking water.

Report: Susan Rice’s promotion to National Security Advisor ‘definitely happening’

Benghazigate might have derailed Ambassador Susan Rice’s bid to be Secretary of State, but the “extraordinary” Rice might have a promotion in her future after all. Foreign Policy reports today that Rice “has become the heir apparent to National Security Advisor Tom Donilon — a post at the epicenter of foreign-policy decision making and arguably more influential than secretary of state.” Writer John Hudson quotes an unnamed source as saying “it’s definitely happening.”
