My choice for the reader "Comment of the Day" regarding "Who is the mystery speaker tonight?"

RNC mystery speaker will be the Kenyan doctor who delivered Obama.

The doctor couldn't come. He has no passport.

So everyone from Jon Voight to Rush to Hannity To Cavuto is saying Eastwood.

I was hoping Sarah would show up too.

Torrential rain dropped by Hurricane Isaac threatened to burst a dam on Thursday, forcing evacuation of up to 60,000 people in Louisiana and Mississippi and leaving large areas of the region flooded and without power.

This will be the talking head topic tonite.

And the evil Republicans will party on! They're probably happy this is happening.

The Stuck Pig Squeals

John Hinderaker

8/30/12

You can tell that Paul Ryan really stung the Democrats last night, by what the party’s leaders are telling their faithful. This is from Barney Frank, in an email titled “clever:”

John –

Paul Ryan is a rigid far-right ideologue and a clever politician.

That’s a dangerous combination — especially in an election where ultraconservative billionaires like the Koch Brothers are spending millions to ensure that their extreme right-wing agenda becomes a reality.

The Democrats can’t get through an email without mentioning the Koch brothers. Can these ritual references possibly have any effect? You wouldn’t think so.

Romney’s Speech

John Hinderaker

8/30/12

These are the extensive excerpts from the speech that Mitt Romney will deliver tonight that have been distributed to the media. It looks like a relatively soft-focus, conciliatory speech:

Well We'll see if this is real or not.

Well let's hope the new upgrade helps tonite. I've got to go to a "mandatory" swim parents meeting later at the HS, probably to get the booster pitch for money and time. Hopefully be back for Romney.

I hope they fact check Obama and the dems as much as they are every R speech. Today is filled with articles "fact checking" Ryan's speech.

I was just struck with this thought: Mitt needs our prayers tonight. As you said @clearvision, everything is against this man. There is, and will be much on his shoulders.

No human alone could possibly face this onslaught without God lifting him up.

RNC Ratings Night Two: Networks Lose 17 Million Viewers Compared To Night Two Of 2008 RNC

By Alex Weprin on August 30, 2012 2:22 PM

On night two of the Republican National Convention, Fox News Channel was once again the network more people went to to get their political fix. That said, every network was down substantially from the same night in 2008, when Sarah Palin made her RNC debut.

From 10-(just after) 11PM, when the broadcasters were live, FNC averaged 7.70 million total viewers, including 2.07 million in the key adults 25-54 demo. NBC was next with 4.15 million viewers, including 1.49 million adults 25-54, followed by ABC with 2.86 million viewers including 993,941 A25-54 and CBS with 2.56 million viewers, including 943,519 A25-54. MSNBC drew 1.44 million viewers during the hour, including 402,044 A25-54, while CNN brought in 1.34 million viewers, including 451,270 A25-54.

Only FNC and ABC improved their 10-11PM viewership Scissors-32x32.pnghttp://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/rnc-ratings-night-two-networks-lose-17-million-viewers-compared-to-night-two-of-2008-rnc_b143711

I am disappointed. I didn't want to have to be the surprise speaker, and now I'm going to have to fill in for you.

If you really want to see a different convention, watch msndc. Sort of fun watching their dementia in action.
