Vallin, why is this getting so little notice?

Actually it is.

DFL leaders call on Rep. Gauthier to give up re-election bid

James Nord | 08/20/12

The top DFL House leader and the head of the party on Monday called on Rep. Kerry Gauthier to drop his re-election campaign after reports surfaced about the Duluth DFLer's sexual encounter last month.

What many of us are interested in is why he wasn't charged with at least indecent exposure. I would never say he wasn't charged because A. He's a Democrat B. it was a homosexual act...but Dieter my evil twin would.

Unfortunately 2016, Obama's America is not being shown in our area yet. Hopefully it will come.

As a review:

A comment from a blogger:

"After four years of Mr. Obama's grand plan I am shocked how anyone would even acknowledge that they support this person. I challenge anyone to come up with one positive bi-partisan accomplishment that has helped improve our country. He's had his opportunity for the "hope-change" thing but we have put a very dangerous person in the White House who has freely admitted how things are going to change if he wins reelection."

Valin,

Thanks, but I guess I meant nationally. One guy says 'legitimate rape' and the media goes ape-chit and this guy does statutory rape, or whatever, and crickets, nationally. Maybe because he is just a state pol??

I think its probably a bit of both.

In politics often perception is reality...and the perception of many of us on The Right is the Media will always give the benefit of the doubt to Democrats, and right wing Pols must be like Caesar's wife, above suspicion.

I think the most important piece of this is that it plays into the narrative the Obama administration is desperately trying to create: That the GOP has a war against women. Most of the press already believes this, so they are more than willing to trot out this example. It's even nice and clear and on tape.

That is the biggest shame in all of this. Akin handed them an "example" to tar Romney and Ryan and to say "see, this is how all of them believe...they are just lying to you." It doesn't make sense, but how many times do we assume the President Obama believes everything that Maxine Waters says? They just don't have to worry about the press...that's the only difference.

That is why the GOP (and especially Women GOPers) want this guy gone now. It is NOT what most of us believe and I don't care what he meant, he made a possibly deadly mistake for the party. It's a inexcusable, unforced error. The fact that he is not stepping down is impossibly selfish and makes the case that he is unfit for office even more apparent.

I don't see how he can possible stay in. If for no other reason than his money supporters have abandoned him.

To me the big question is who will replace him? Brunner was the 2nd place finisher in the primary, will he be appointed or Steelman, the Tea Party candidate?

Claire has to be laughing all the way to the polling booth.

I know. It breaks my heart. I guess I would say the second place finisher needs to step up. In anycase, whatever happens we may have to loose this one for the greater good. Actually, it makes me sort of mad. What a stupid, stupid mistake.

That there is a double standard is a given.

And Yes he has to go...yesterday would be good. Is this fair to Akins? Probably not, but life is not fair...in fact as an old saying goes...Life is a Bi*ch, and then you die.

Obama National Campaign Co-Chair Donated $10,000 to Paul Ryan

"I'm squarely a supporter of the president, and he is absolutely the right man for the job," Benioff said Monday.

But the tech executive is also a fan of Ryan -- Mitt Romney's running mate and a rising Republican star. In June, Benioff donated $10,000 to Ryan's political action committee after meeting with the candidate, who at the time had not been named to the GOP ticket and was running for re-election in the House.

Benioff tells CNN: "The nation's fiscal difficulties must be addressed, the CEO said, and Ryan's ideas offer 'a lot of the right long-term thinking for the country.'"

Akins just announced he plans to stay in it.

$&@""&$)?!

Could not have put it better.

Akin tells Huckabee he’s staying in race.

Paul Mirengoff

Rep. Todd Akin said on Mike Huckabee’s radio show that he will remain in the Missouri Senate race. That decision, if Akin adheres to it, will move the Missouri race from probable Republican pickup to probable Democratic retention, I would think.

Nonetheless, the decision is understandable from Akin’s point of view, and therefore not surprising. Republicans are asking Akin to give up a shot at the U.S. Senate for the good of the Party and of the country. Nothing I know about Akin suggests that he sees any appeal in this proposition.

Did Huckabee try to persuade Akin to quit? I hope so. It was Huckabee whose backing helped put this loose cannon in a position potentially to cost Republicans control of the Senate.

It is not even just control of the Senate, it is all the shift in focus now from economy/welfare they had rolling.

Appeals court allows Texas to ban state funding for Planned Parenthood pending trial over law

A federal appeals court ruled Tuesday that Texas can cut off funding for Planned Parenthood clinics that provide health services to low-income women before a trial over a new law that bans state money from going to organizations tied to abortion providers.

The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans lifted a federal judge’s temporary injunction calling for the funding to continue pending an October trial on Planned Parenthood’s challenge to the law.
