Love these stickers!!!

However in some areas of this once proud country, they would allow a mob to legally kill the driver of said vehicle.

Try driving such a vehicle in Harlem, any big city "inner city" neighborhood, Selma, AL, or Washington DC

Sad state of affairs this country is in.

Maybe we can begin fixing it in November?

I don't put stickers on my car. And No Nov. will not fix that. In fact it may (probably) make it worse. We are smack dab in the middle of major changes...and those while exciting, are never peaceful & pleasant.

More Fun Than A Goat

Walter Russell Mead

7/26/12

“More fun than a goat,” is how one of TR’s friends described watching him angle for the Republican Vice Presidential nomination in 1900 without actually admitting he wanted it; the phrase comes to mind as we watch Congressional Democrats trying to keep the heat on about Governor Romney’s tax returns while keeping their own firmly under wraps.

This entertaining post from Michael Greenspan (h/t the indefatigable Glenn Reynolds) describes House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s painful attempts over three days to explain why Mitt Romney should release many years of his tax returns while she and her many wealthy Democratic colleagues in Congress shouldn’t release any of theirs.

(Snip)

The truth of course is that American politicians of both parties are often much wealthier than the people they allegedly represent, and politicians, like most wealthy people, take full advantage of all the tax shelters and deductions their lawyers and accountants can find. The chances are that a great many of our elected representatives invest in companies whose activities would not please the voters back home, engage in various sordid insider trading deals, and send big chunks of their dearly beloved money to various no-tell money motels in places like Switzerland and the Cayman Islands. Most probably don’t commit any crimes; one of the nice things about lawyers is that with enough of them you can pretty much do what you want.

Columnist: Pro-Romney Ad “It’s OK To Make A Change” Could Really Hurt Obama

July 26, 2012 Posted by Doug Johnson

He’s worried because, in his opinion, it’s the most effective anti-Obama ad yet.

No, what bothers me is that last line spoken by the narrator as we see a black-and-white still image of a downward looking Obama.

He tried. You tried. It’s OK to make a change.

Millions of Americans were swept up in the drama of the 2008 presidential contest and were proud to cast a ballot that helped elect the first African American president of the United States. Doing so was and will remain one of our nation’s crowning achievements. But there’s no denying that many of those same millions have soured on Obama because of what they believe he hasn’t been able to achieve. Yet, they are conflicted.

Poll after poll, including the just-released Wall Street Journal-NBC News poll, shows that while Obama gets low marks for his fiscal stewardship, people like him personally. And much more than Romney. The WSJ-NBC survey puts Obama’s favorable-unfavorable at 49 percent-43 percent and Romney’s at 35 percent-49 percent.

By telling potential voters “It’s OK to make a change,” the RNC is acknowledging all that I mention above. It’s OK to like the guy personally but not vote for him again. This is not a popularity contest. It’s OK to vote against the black guy. You gave him a shot. He gave it his best shot. He failed. And the most effective message is: “It’s OK to make a change” — and not be thought of as a racist.

Throughout Obama’s presidency, I’ve received more than a few e-mails and tweets from folks complaining that they are branded racist if they disagree with anything the president says or does. And it doesn’t help matters that I have Scissors-32x32.png read more

All Hands on Deck as the Silver-Tongued President Continues Clarifying ‘You Didn’t Build That’

Posted by Jeff Emanuel (Diary)

Wednesday, July 25th at 9:00AM EDT

Years ago, our own Dan McLaughlin defined ”swiftboating” as “Accurately quoting a Democratic politician’s own words.”

By that definition, President Obama is being swiftboated up a creek without a paddle right now, as constant repetition of his own words has the campaigner-in-chief and every attack dog he can muster working day and night to “clarify” his remarks on small business.

For review, here’s the president’s direct quote (

):

“If you’ve got a business – you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”

That’s right — the president didn’t say “you had help building your business,” or “you didn’t do it on your own”; he said, word for word, “You didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”

The pushback, which is well into its second week now, is an “all hands on deck” effort. The campaign has cut multiple ads, including one that was

, and one in which Obama himself, looking slightly away from the camera, says, “Those ads taking my words about small business out of context — they’re flat-out wrong. Of course Americans build their own businesses.” According to Jen Psaki, the campaign’s traveling press secretary, the latter, in which the president speaks (almost) directly to the camera, was employed because Obama “is an effective communicator.”

If that’s not the rhetorical version of whistling past the graveyard, I’m not sure what it is. To put it another way, most Scissors-32x32.png Read More

This was almost the bestest day eva for race card playas

Posted by William A. Jacobson Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 4:40pm

This was almost the best day in the existence of those Obama supporters who dream every night about what they can do the next day to tag Mitt Romney as racist.

They almost got what they wanted today, or so they thought, because The Telegraph newspaper in Britain quoted a single anonymous Romney aide who refused to go on the record or be identified who used the term “Anglo-Saxon” in describing the relationship between the U.S. and Britain, and why Romney might do a better job than Obama:

In remarks that may prompt accusations of racial insensitivity, one suggested that Mr Romney was better placed to understand the depth of ties between the two countries than Mr Obama, whose father was from Africa.

“We are part of an Anglo-Saxon heritage, and he feels that the special relationship is special,” the adviser said of Mr Romney, adding: “The White House didn’t fully appreciate the shared history we have”.

That one anonymous quote from a single Romney aide led to an avalanche of denunciations of Romney as racist (via Memeorandum): Scissors-32x32.png read more http://legalinsurrection.com/2012/07/this-was-almost-the-bestest-day-eva-for-race-card-playas/

Obama to sell economic vision in Olympics ad

July 27, 2012 7:43 AM

Lucy Madison

(CBS News) In an upbeat new ad that will air Friday during the opening ceremonies of the Olympic Games in London, President Obama will continue to pitch his commitment to middle-class America.

The 30-second spot, entitled "I believe," alternates images of middle class workers with clips of Mr. Obama delivering speeches, and stresses the president's belief that the economy is grown "from Scissors-32x32.png

Jonathan Chait Hears A Dog Whistle

and that is really hard to do with your head in your watch pocket

We’ve been told now for over four years that any criticism of Obama is not based on his ineptness, incompetence, corruption, or moral cowardice but rather on our own racism.

If you want to know why Obama’s “you didn’t build that” statement resonates, it has nothing to do with Obama’s dislike for America or his rejection of hard work and exceptionalism as American values. Rather it is because you are racist. Don’t trust me, Jonathan Chait at New York Magazine, offers this as proof:

Mitt Romney’s plan of blatantly lying about President Obama’s “you didn’t build that” speech is clearly drawing blood. But what makes the attack work so well is not so much the lie itself but the broader subtext of it. [...]

The key thing is that Obama is angry, and he’s Scissors-32x32.png read more

Romney isn’t out to make the world swoon

Fouad Ajami

July 27 2012

The itinerary for the overseas trip that Mitt Romney is taking — Britain, Poland and Israel — is brilliantly chosen. These countries contrast greatly with candidate Barack Obama’s 2008 foreign tour, which included stops in Afghanistan and Jordan. That journey aimed to show that he would strengthen America’s bonds with countries that aren’t always our staunchest allies — and that Obama was the opposite of President George W. Bush. Huge crowds swooned over Obama in Paris and Berlin, a reception that was a boon to his campaign at home.

The former Massachusetts governor, however, neither seeks nor generates this sort of delirium. He is a sober man who promises reliable management and a foreign policy that recognizes that the world is beset with dangers to America’s welfare and liberty.

(Snip)

Just as Obama sought to distance himself from Bush’s legacy, Romney’s overseas itinerary is meant to draw a contrast with the current president. Israel, Poland and Britain are resolutely pro-American societies, choices that play it safe politically and suggest that a Romney presidency would as well.

A younger Obama considered his first employer, “the enemy”

Jazz Shaw:

While the President continues to bristle at the notion that people should pay attention to his “You didn’t build that” comments and his supporters insists we’re reading too much into it, a look at Barack Obama’s younger self tells a different story. Just how does he view business owners and capitalists in general? One peek into the inner thought process which formed his world view can be found in a book released earlier this year by David Maraniss titled, Barack Obama: The Story. I confess I missed this one when it came out, but a friend has been reading it and pointed out some rather telling passages, particularly in light of the recent flap. But I wasn’t the only one to notice, nor the first. The Washington Examiner’s Byron Yorkpicked up on it last month. Obama spent very little time in business, but he did have a job at a company called Business International for about a year after he graduated from Columbia University in 1983. The book contains new details about the future president’s brief stint in corporate America. Obama was a low-level editor in Reference Services, working on reports describing economic conditions in various foreign countries. By all accounts, he disliked the work, not just because it was pedestrian and boring, but because it was in business. “He calls it working for the enemy,” Obama’s mother, Ann, wrote Scissors-32x32.png read more http://floppingaces.net/most_wanted/a-younger-obama-considered-his-first-employer-the-enemy/

Mitt Romney: A Candidate With a Serious Wimp Problem

Dodging reporters, fearing his base, hiding his taxes—is Mitt Romney just too insecure to be president? In Newsweek, Michael Tomasky surveys a history of presidential manliness and asks just where Mitt would fit amid the studly swagger of Dubya and Reagan.

About your college transcripts? About those people who mentored you, and who you have associated with all you life we at Newsweek would like to ask you a couple of questions.

I've noticed several polls being pushed in the past week on people's feelings about having Mormon president and about Romney's likeability versus Obama. Main stream ABC, NBC etc.

Memo From the National Affairs Desk: Ninety-Nine Days Until November 6

Posted on | July 30, 2012

The Republican National Convention begins Aug. 27, which is now just four weeks away. More importantly, we are now inside the final 100-day window of the 2012 presidential campaign. This is as good time as any to ask, “Where does the race stand?”

Walesa endorses Romney after Obama snubs him

Joel Gehrke

7/30/12

Two months ago, President Obama’s team refused to host former Polish President and Nobel Peace Prize Lech Walesa at the White House, claiming that he was too “political” to participate in the Presidential Medal of Freedom ceremony.

Today, Walesa — an anti-Communist freedom fighter — got political. “Gov. Romney, get your success, be successful!” Walesa said in Poland during a meeting with the former governor. “Poland and many other countries will certainly do their best for the United States to restore its leadership position. And after our conversation, I’m quite confident that you will be successful in doing that,” The Washington Post quoted him as saying.

The endorsement comes two months after Obama refused to host Walesa at the White House. The Polish government had requested that Walesa receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom that was posthumously awarded to Jan Karski, who served in the Polish Underground during World War II.

Obama turns to Bill Clinton for key convention speech

Former president Bill Clinton will formally place President Obama's name in nomination at the Democratic National Convention in September.

Clinton is getting a prime-time speaking slot at the Democratic convention, organizers announced Monday. It's part of the current president's plan to promote his economic policy with the help of a predecessor who presided over a boom economy in the 1990s.

"President Clinton oversaw the longest economic expansion in U.S. history, pursuing many of the same policies that President Obama is proposing and implementing today," said Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, who chairs the convention to be held Sept. 4-6 in Charlotte.
