Oh, crap. I would be so ashamed of my father's behavior while he was president I wouldn't even bring up the subject if I were Caroline Kennedy.

GOP lawmaker's bill would block Obama deportation policy

By Pete Kasperowicz - 06/19/12 09:10 AM ET

Rep. David Schweikert (R-Ariz.) on Monday proposed legislation that would block enforcement of President Obama's new policy of letting certain illegal immigrants request temporary relief from deportation.

Schweikert's bill would specifically prohibit the Department of Homeland Security from allowing that relief, which Obama described on Friday as an option for up to 800,000 immigrants who came to the United States illegally at a young age. Schweikert said his bill would prevent Obama from "dictating" immigration law from the White House.

"
Last week, the president decided to grant amnesty and hand out work permits to hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants, while over 23 million Americans remain unemployed and the civilian participation rate is at a 30-year low,"
he said Monday. "This amounts to an abdication

Senate Dems balk at ending Bush-era tax rates; Update: McConnell says he’s prepared to “do a grand bargain”

Abandonment?

If Barack Obama wants to go into electoral battle on the promise to hike taxes, he may find the ranks behind him thinning significantly. The Hill reports that seven key Democrats in the Senate will block attempts to raise the income-tax rates for the highest-earning Americans without a comprehensive tax reform plan, which means that Republicans might succeed in preventing Obama from running on his best class-warfare argument:

A growing number of Senate Democrats are signaling they are not prepared to raise taxes on anyone in the weak economy unless Congress approves a grand bargain to reduce the deficit.

At least seven Democratic senators have declined to rule out supporting a temporary extension of the Bush-era income tax rates, breaking with party leaders who have called for letting the rates expire for people earning more than $1 million per year.

That gives Senate Republicans a chance to push a temporary extension similar to the deal Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) struck with President Obama in December of 2010.

Democrats running for reelection, such as Sens. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) and Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), have declined to endorse their leadership’s call for a tax increase on wealthy families.

That’s not entirely bad news for Obama, either — assuming he takes advantage of it. The Taxmageddon effect on the economy has already started, with businesses and investors sheltering capital in anticipation of heavy damage at the beginning of next year. Resolving that with a temporary one-to-two-year compromise would encourage more risk and investment, although probably not an overwhelming amount of it, given the state of demand at the moment. That could produce a couple of good months of economic indicators and give Obama some breathing space.

The question will be whether Obama can take a deal. He has spent nine months demonizing Republicans and blaming the wealthy for using tax rates that Scissors-32x32.png Read More http://hotair.com/archives/2012/06/19/senate-dems-balk-at-ending-bush-era-tax-rates/

Manchin, other top W.V. Dems, plan to skip Democratic convention

By

Campaign 2012

(CBS News) Three Democrats from West Virginia, including first-term Sen. Joe Manchin, are skipping the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C. this September, where President Obama will formally receive the party's presidential nomination.

The West Virginia Democratic Party told reporters Monday that in addition to Manchin, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and Rep. Nick Rahall do not plan to join West Virginia's delegation. State Party Chair Larry Puccio said Sen. Jay Rockefeller will attend and will serve as the group's honorary chair.

Mr. Obama is unpopular in the state and lost 41 percent of the West Virginia primary vote to a convicted felon. Manchin -- who faces his own re-election battle this year -- has said he's not sure he'll vote for Mr. Obama.

In a statement explaining his decision to skip the convention Manchin said, "I intend snip Read More

ObamaEconomy: Underemployed And Underpaid

June 19, 2012 – 8:36 am

Even the NY Times is forced to admit what everyone else except President “The private sector is doing fine” knows: the economy under Obama’s stewardship stinks at all levels

Throughout the Great Recession and the not-so-great recovery, the most commonly discussed measure of misery has been unemployment. But many middle-class and working-class people who are fortunate enough to have work are struggling as well, which is why Sherry Woods, a 59-year-old van driver from Atlanta, found herself standing in line at a jobs fair this month, with her résumé tucked inside a Bible.

The article describes the issues Ms. Woods is having, which include seeing her hours cut back and her pay cut, so she’s out there at a jobs fair, and the Times even mentions that she looks to her Bible for comfort.

These are anxious days for American workers. Many, like Scissors-32x32.png Read More http://www.thepiratescove.us/2012/06/19/obamaeconomy-underemployed-and-underpaid/

s President Obama’s Dream Order a Legal Nightmare?

Posted on 19 June 2012by danmillerinpanama

The Executive Decision not to enforce Federal immigration laws in order to give President Obama a badly needed political boost may run afoul of the soon-to-be-released Supreme Court decision in the Arizona Immigration Law case.

President Obama’s own (Nightmare) Dream Act

obama-dont-need-no-stinkin-congress.jpeg?w=640

On June 15th, President Obama grandly announced that because the Congress had declined to pass a “Dream Act” granting immunity from prosecution to members of specific groups of illegal aliens, he had taken it upon himself to do it. Doing it just temporarily was fine for his purposes, because the election is less than five months away. Less than a year before, he had told a gathering of la Raza people about his unhappiness that he could not do what he just did, because of the laws and Constitution of the United States, which he had sworn to uphold, forbade him. Even so, he said that doing what he wanted to do was “very tempting.”

Having surrendered to (political expediency) temptation, President Obama on June 15th attempted to ensure that at least eight hundred thousand illegal aliens will be granted protection from deportation and other “rights” inconsistent with Federal law simply because President Obama so desires. As suggested below, the Supreme Court may well have something relevant to say when it decides, later this Scissors-32x32.pngRead More http://danmillerinpanama.wordpress.com/2012/06/19/is-president-obamas-dream-order-a-legal-nightmare/

I Oppose Barack Obama Because He’s Black

June 18, 2012 - 5:03 pm - by Andrew Klavan

Sam Donaldson, who regularly treated President Ronald Reagan with disrespect, feels he knows exactly why Neil Munro of the right-leaning Daily Caller treated Barack Obama with disrespect. During the president’s recent announcement that he had decided to make up laws by himself from now on, effectively granting immunity to some illegal aliens with a wave of his almighty hand, Munro shouted out a question rather than waiting for the president to leave the podium without taking any questions.

Donaldson’s reaction in part: “Many on the political right believe this president ought not to be there – they oppose him not for his polices and political view but for who he is, an African American!”

well, the old hairpiece has a point. As far as I’m concerned there are only two plausible reasons to oppose President Obama: either because he’s clearly the worst president in American history, or because he’s black.

For me, it’s because he’s black.

Oh, I know, some of you are suspicious. You think that secretly Scissors-32x32.png Read More

Chris Matthews: Don't You Think The Fast & Furious Probe Is, Oh, What's The Word? Tip of My Tongue. Oh, Right: Don't You Think the Fast & Furious Probe is Racist?

This was posted on Ace Of Spades -- Thanks

I know they love this line, but all I can say is live by the sword, die by the sword.

“I don’t want to start too much forest fire here but it is my instinct: is this ethnic?” Matthews asked San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown last night. “It smells like it to me and I think there is a disdain on the part of some Republicans . . . that do talk down to the president and his friends,” Matthews added.

Brown, earlier in the segment, had already accused Issa of “leading a lynch-like mob” against Holder.

Holder made the same accusation in December. “This is a way to get at the president because of the way I can be identified with him,” Holder told the New York Times, “both due to the nature of our relationship and, you know, the fact that we’re both African-American.”

A lot of people on Twitter are pretty sure it's racist, too.

I've talked to independent-type people. This constant claim of racism? Eye Roll City, baby.

They understand it's the desperate defense of last resort. They are not fooled.

I forgot who said it, but failure and incompetence and corruption and dishonesty are not "races."

TSHHTF Watergate Again – Executive Privilege on Fast & Furious

Posted by Yorkshire on 2012/06/20

I remember all too well this same thing happened with Nixon. BO has all but said he’s involved in Fast & Furious to INVOKE EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE. I remember Watergate all too well. BO has stuck his foot into it up to his ass.

Obama Asserts Executive Privilege on Fast and Furious Posted on June 20, 2012 by Conservative Byte

President Obama has granted an 11th-hour request by Eric Holder to exert executive privilege over Fast and Furious documents, a last-minute maneuver that appears unlikely to head off a contempt vote against the attorney general by Republicans in the House.

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is expected to forge ahead with its meeting on the contempt resolution anyway.Scissors-32x32.png Read More

Obama Invokes Nixonian Executive Privilege But Scolded Bush for the Same Thing

http://www.youtube.com/embed/bpwYh9TD6Nc?feature=player_embedded"

Good for me but not for thee is Obama’s refrain as he invoked Executive Privilege to keep hidden his actions with the disastrous Justice Dept. program called Fast & Furious — a program responsible for several deaths of American law enforcement officers as well as hundreds of Mexican citizens.

In 2007 when George W. Bush fired a small handful of U.S. Attorneys, he invoked Executive Privilege to prevent a Democrat controlled Congress from looking into his firings. At that time Obama went before the cameras of the Larry King Show to denounce Bush for hiding “behind Executive Privilege every time there’s something a little shaky taking place.”

Yet now that Congressional investigators are looking into the disastrous and murderous gun running program sponsored by U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, Obama is suddenly invoking the very thing he scolded Bush for using.

There can be only one reason for this: Obama was fully aware of the program and knew Scissors-32x32.png Read More http://wizbangblog.com/?p=47614

VIDEO: Obama’s ‘Bullying Czar,’ A Hater Extraordinaire

Yet, at an April High School rally in California from the podium, Savage, a homosexual, started calling Christians “pansies” and “morons,” and said the Bible was “bullshit.” Savage also said the Bible pushes a pro-slavery message.

So much for tolerance and being against bullying!
