Why Obama’s Speech Today Was a Fail

Neither Mitt Romney nor President Obama said anything particularly new today. Both delivered standard stump speeches — Romney without a teleprompter, the president with, as both candidates customarily do. Even MSNBC had to admit that the president’s speech wasn’t much to write online about. He spent 54 minutes saying things he has said a zillion times before.

But the president built up expectations for today’s speech by telegraphing it days in advance. Beginning Tuesday, the Obama campaign signaled that the president would go to Ohio and knock Romney off the cable cameras, upstage Romney’s scheduled speech, and reboot his campaign. Almost immediately after that, though, campaign staff leaked that Obama’s speech would have no new ideas. So how could it upstage Romney? By geography, apparently.

The president appeared to be trying to do to Romney what Romney did to him a couple of weeks ago, when Obama adviser David Axelrod held an event in Boston. Romney upstaged that event by holding an event at Solyndra, using the empty building as a backdrop to visually draw attention to Obama’s failed energy policies and wasteful spending. Romney’s Solyndra gambit won him the week and has kept the Obama campaign off-balance ever since. They never know where Mitt Romney will turn up or what he’ll use against Obama. Today, that old quote from Bill Clinton turned Scissors-32x32.png Read More

White House’s Embarrassing Redo: Obama’s Additions to Prez Bios Distanced

June 14, 2012 | Filed under 2012 Presidential Race,Big government,corruption,Culture Of Corruption,Democrats,Internet,Liberals,Obama Regime,Obama Weakness,Obama Worship | Posted by Warner Todd Huston

A month ago the President had his tech lackeys add a little something to a host of past president’s biographical webpages on the official White House website causing eyebrows to be raised across the country. At that time team Obama thought would be a great idea to add sections at the end of many presidential bios touting how great Obama is, too. In an admission that they overstepped propriety and now that the outrage has died down, the White House web team has gone back into these pages and pulled the Obama horn-tooting out of the bio proper and put them in a separate area.

In May, many Americans were aghast at the arrogance displayed by Obama for having the temerity to insert himself into so many bios of our illustrious past presidents. Obama added bits touting his own wonderful policy ideas into the bios of such presidents as Lyndon Johnson, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, Calvin Coolidge, and many others.

Obama was widely criticized over the move and the imprudence was said to have shored up the perception that Barack Obama is President Me, Me, Me. It all embarrassed the Scissors-32x32.png Read More http://wizbangblog.com/2012/06/14/white-houses-embarrassing-redo-obamas-additions-to-prez-bios-distanced/

Obama Seeks to Nullify our Immigration Laws

The making of a constitutional crisis

King Barack Hussein Kardashian Obama thinks that he gets to invent laws where they don’t exists and disregard the ones that are already on the books.

In yet another demonstration of contempt for the rule of law and the separation of powers, the Obama administration has announced that it will no longer enforce our immigration laws (not that he’s been enforcing them until now). The Washington Times broke the story this morning about a secret memo from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that establishes new policies advising agents to release some illegals caught crossing the border. The new policy will encourage agents to suspend deportation proceedings and grant amnesty to those who ostensibly fit the criteria of the Dream Act – a bill that was defeated with overwhelming bipartisan support of Congress. Hence, the administration is publicly declaring that federal agents will ensure our laws are not executed faithfully.Scissors-32x32.png Read More http://www.redstate.com/dhorowitz3/2012/06/15/obama-seeks-to-nullify-our-immigration-laws/

The President of Disappointments How Obama Has Failed to Deliver

By Ullrich Fichtner, Marc Hujer and Gregor Peter Schmitz

Barack Obama entered the White House as a savior. But he hasn't delivered. The ideological chasms in the US are as deep as they have ever been, with Republicans blocking the president at every turn. Who is responsible for his failure?

The United States of America, where yet another mammoth presidential campaign is taking shape, makes up less than 5 percent of the world's population. Yet it consumes about 25 percent of the world's oil. It has close to $16 trillion (€12.8 trillion) in debt, its expenditures will exceed its revenues by $1.3 trillion in this fiscal year alone, and the war in Afghanistan is costing it $2 billion. Each week. Many in this country are demanding peace in Syria, even as Washington quietly fights a dirty drone war in Pakistan. Some 169 prisoners are still stewing in Guantanamo. In Washington, D.C., the divide between the two political camps is so deep that it resembles an abyss. Is the current president of the United States really named Barack Obama? Is the era of George W. Bush really over?

Obama's first term in office will end in just a few months time. The giant, many-faceted country, 27 times the size of Germany, needs a new plan -- a new project for the staggering global superpower. A president will be elected in November for 314 million citizens. A new president? Perhaps. It is conceivable that the first black president, Barack Obama, hailed as a savior when he came into office, will be replaced by the pale Mormon Mitt Romney, a Republican with somewhat dubious conservative credentials. The thing is, strategically it makes no sense. it will further alienate his democrat counterparts in congress, cause a significant backlash with the Unions and blue collar workers, Not to mention legal Hispanics. The only group it would please are illegal workers...who aren't supposed to vote. I just don't see the logic in this at all. He can try to get illegal votes, bit that will not exceed the number if people he ticks off trying to get them.

Obama on DREAM Act: Can’t “just change the laws unilaterally” Transcript

By Lynn Sweet | Chicago Sun-Times Blog

I just have to continue to say this notion that somehow I can just change the laws unilaterally is just not true. We are doing everything we can administratively. But the fact of the matter is there are laws on the books that I have to enforce. And I think there’s been a great disservice done to the cause of getting the DREAM Act passed and getting comprehensive immigration passed by perpetrating the notion that somehow, by myself, I can go and do these things. It’s just not true.

That's just it, pollyanaish! He WON'T tick off those who are already for him. His coming out in favor of gay marriage and the total silence of the black religious community is proof of that.

There's been a lot of talk lately about gaffes from both candidates, but Obama's gaffes won't hurt him. The people who blindly support him (including the MSM) will simply ignore them. But they will scream incessantly about any gaffes Romney makes.

“Amnesty” Is A Spanish Word That Means “Desperate”

Michael Graham

Friday, June 15, 2012

I’ve intentionally ignored some of the “Hey—It really looks like Romney is winning!” euphoria in the political blogosphere because a) It’s Mitt Romney, a notorious vote-repeller; and B) it’s the GOP—if anyone can screw up a one-man circle-event, it’s them.

Today, however, I’m starting to believe the “Obama is blowing it” hype, and it’s because of his sudden turnaround on amnesty.

You don’t have to be a former political consultant like me to know that amnesty is a losing issue. Poll after poll show that the average American opposes amnesty. Yes, they also oppose enforcement efforts they view as “mean” or unfair, but Americans want enforcement, and they want it now more than ever.

NBC News reported grim statistics indicating that the U.S. lost one hundred and thirty thousand millionaires just last year. It could be a problem for Democrats. President Obama can't very well attack Mitt Romney if he's on the Endangered Species List.

The Senate demanded a probe into recent leaks of top-secret intelligence to the New York Times. Everyone has adjusted. Last week the CIA got rid of six al-Qaeda fighters in Pakistan by telling President Obama they're CIA informants, and making him promise not to tell a soul.

Bill Clinton apologized for calling for an extension of the Bush tax cuts and claimed he didn't mean to undercut President Obama. It was like old times. Bill Clinton bit his lower lip, wagged his finger and denied having sexual relations with supply-side economics.

Hillary Clinton called for Syria's leader Bashar al-Assad to step down following more violence. She speaks for all of us. Every American is rooting for an end to bloodshed so that we might have a peaceful transition to democracy and three dollars a gallon by Labor Day.

The House of Representatives had a brief ceremony honoring Nancy Pelosi to mark her twenty-fifth anniversary in Congress. She was expressionless as they handed her the plaque. This is why Botox is the choice of poker champions everywhere.

Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife left their child behind at a London pub where they had lunch but retrieved her later. Every modern power couple with a child knows it could have been a lot worse. It could have been their cell phone and keys.

Commerce Secretary John Bryson smashed his car into a Buick as the Buick was waiting for a train to go by. He got out and apologized, then smashed into the Buick again. President Obama called a press briefing Monday and said the Buick is doing just fine.

Senate Republicans blasted Democrats for trying to bully the U.S. Supreme Court into ruling in favor of the Health Care Reform law. It's controversial. The plan does provide everyone who lives in rural areas with a country doctor, unfortunately the country is India.Scissors-32x32.pngRead More http://patriotpost.us/opinion/13817

President Obama Needs to be Outed

By Adrien Nash

June 15, 2012

President Obama lives a closeted life, wears a front to mask his enormous secret, maintains a public lie to defend his reputation and presidency, has a hidden truth that no one dare speak. What is that hidden truth? It is that he is a closet statutory citizen and not a "natural born citizens" as the Constitution requires in order to be President.

Some secrets are too devastating to be shared, too shocking to be disseminated, too disruptive and damaging to be broadcast. One such secret was that kept by Rock Hudson and all who knew him. When it was finally reveal in the press that he had AIDS, I wasn't shocked one bit. Why?

Because decades earlier, while still a teenage in the 1960s, my uncle, a resident of Hollywood, once related that while he was at a Hollywood party, he saw Rock Hudson, super male heart throb, kissing a man on the mouth. That sure went against the grain of what one would have expected to hear. But why did no one else hear about it? And not for decades?

Because of a wall of silence maintained by the press in order to protect one of America's idols. The news that a handsome, strong leading all-male American figure could be "queer" was more than any news operation was willing to divulge to the American people. There was an actual real-life, honest-to-goodness conspiracy of silence to protect him, (and us) from the truth.

We still live in the same world with the same motivations, only today the man being protected is not a superstar actor, but the President of the United States. He's being protected from the public knowing the truth about him. He must be kept in the closet so no one is aware that he is constitutionally barred from serving as the President.

The silence not only protects him, it also protects all those complicit in his election and those backing his secret agenda to further socialize America because by maintaining the appearance of eligibility, their Scissors-32x32.png read more http://patriotpost.us/commentary/13831

'Titanic II: It'll Be Different This Time'

A second term for Obama would be a bad sequel

A second term for Obama would be a bad sequel

"The Democrats are saying something like this: 'We found a big hole that we did not dig. ... Give us two more years. If it doesn't work, vote us out.'" That's what Bill Clinton said about the economy -- in 2010. There's plenty of blame to go around for that hole, of course, but it's worth remembering that Democrats took control of both houses of Congress -- and the purse strings -- almost a year before the recession started. And we can't think of a better argument for voting Democrats out than how they bound and gagged the economy for the last five years.

One of Clinton's most trusted strategists, James "It's the Economy, Stupid" Carville, is painfully aware that the languishing economy doesn't bode well for Democrats in November, and he's advising Obama to quit talking about his record -- a strategy he says is "wrong" and "will fail" -- and focus on the future instead. Carville wrote, along with fellow strategists Stanley Greenberg and Erica Seifert, "We will face an impossible headwind in November if we do not move to a new narrative, one that contextualizes the recovery but, more importantly, focuses on what we will do to make a better future for the middle class." In other words, it's like the sequel to "Titanic," and the ship will sink all over again.

Barack Obama isn't listening to Carville, though. He gave a 54-minute speech yesterday at an Ohio community college -- ironically, the same place Clinton made his remarks two years ago -- in an attempt to "reframe" the issue. "Rerun" might be a better word because there was nothing new offered, no deviation from the bigger-government-fixes-everything template, and it was full of the usual mix of self-congratulation and blame for everyone else. In fact, we think we've heard it 54 times before.

Obama blamed the "policies of the last decade" for the bad economy, while arguing Scissors-32x32.png read more http://patriotpost.us/editions/13830/

SF Chronicle reprints 2006 article as breaking news — because it contained flattering Obama tidbit

Just how deep in the tank for Obama is the MSM?

Consider:

The San Francisco Chronicle just uploaded a “new” investigative article for tomorrow’s “Sunday Insight” section, entitled “Power is not only an aphrodisiac, it does weird things to some of us”. Fine. Nothing odd about that. It’s a fairly interesting, if a bit predictable, article about how power corrupts people.

But on page 3, near the end of the article, after we are told that “people who are naturally selfish grow even more selfish if they attain power, while people who are naturally selfless and giving become more so with power,” comes this peculiar fact:

So what is required to remain uncorrupted — to handle power with grace?

The experts say that to remain grounded, it takes a deliberate effort, a sense of humor about yourself and a willingness to become more, not less, reflective. Illinois Sen. Barack Obama says he gains more insights into the needs of constituents by flying in coach.

Say what? Illinois Senator Barack Obama??? A quick check back at the dateline for the article reveals all: Sunday, November 19, 2006.

Why in the world would a major newspaper reprint a 6-year-old article as if it was fresh and new? Is there a shortage of writers and content in 2012? The whole things seems odd and inscrutable.

Until, that is, you encounter the little Obama tidbit at the end. Suddenly it all Scissors-32x32.png Read More

Obama vs. the rule of law

By Jennifer Rubin

It is ironic that just days before the 40th anniversary of the Watergate burglary we should also witness a jaw-dropping act of constitutional defiance by the current president. Then the issue was whether the president was above the law and could bend and stretch the powers of his office for whatever end he dubbed worthy. This time the issue is whether the president can write Congress out of the Constitution.

The topic now is the Dream Act. In 2011 President Obama

:

In 2012 Obama invoked the “it’s the right thing to do” clause of Article 1, which makes the “ we can ignore the enumerated powers” clause of Article 2 look like child’s play in the game of unconstitutional power grabbing.

Irony of ironies, it is John Woo, the bogeyman of the left, who reminded us that the president had abused his power:

President Obama’s claim that he can refuse to deport 800,000 aliens here in the country illegally illustrates the unprecedented stretching of the Constitution and the rule of law. He is laying claim to presidential power that goes even beyond that claimed by the Bush administration, in which I served. There is a world of difference in refusing to enforce laws that violate the Constitution (Bush) and refusing to enforce laws because of disagreements over policy (Obama).

Under Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution, the president has the duty to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed.” This provision was included to make sure that the president could not simply choose, as the British King had, to cancel legislation simply because he disagreed with it. President Obama cannot refuse to carry out a congressional statute simply because he thinks it advances the wrong policy. To do so violates the very core of his constitutional duties.

As Woo notes, if Obama can systematically amend legislation without Congress, then “President Romney could lower tax rates simply by saying he will not use enforcement resources to prosecute anyone who refuses to pay capital-gains tax. He could repeal Obamacare simply by refusing to fine or prosecute anyone who violates it.” Not enforce the Dodd-Frank financial legislation? Sure. Tell the Environmental Protection Agency to cease all enforcement actions? Fine.

That the media elites who bleated about President George W. Bush’s purported “shredding” of the Constitution are silent is tribute to the left’s intellectual hypocrisy and the strength of the totalitarian temptation. If it serves liberal ends then, presto, it is legal.

This is not the first time this president has shown indifference to the rule of law. The commerce clause? Puleez. The individual mandate is the Scissors-32x32.png Read More

Congratulations to President Obama on his 100th round of golf

Posted by Dan Spencer (Diary)

Sunday, June 17th at 3:56PM EDT

Today, President Obama completed his 100th (documented) round of golf.

In celebration of this milestone, Duane Lester of All American Blogger made the following video:

:

Obama is working hard, at least at playing golf. In less than three-and-a-half years he has played 100 rounds of golf.

Just nine months into the Obama presidency the New York Post reported that Obama surpassed former President George W. Bush on the number of days spent on the golf course when Obama played a round of golf for the 24th time in his presidency — a milestone it took Bush almost three years to reach. Bush gave up golf in 2003 saying “I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong signal.” That’s a position Obama obviously rejects.

Nothing seems to keep Obama off the golf course. Not a 5.8 magnitude earthquake or the need help Democrat Tom Barret in the effort to failed effort to recall Governor Scott Walker. In an appearance on CNBC, Politico’s Jonathan Allen joked that “neither rain nor snow nor gloom of night will keep the president from his appointed rounds of golf.”

Chris Cillizza made me laugh out loud last evening when I read his column, which opens with a question: “Is it possible for a president — any president — to succeed in the modern world of politics?”

There is nothing new under the sun, including this question.

On January 19, 2010, I wrote about the ungovernability of the American Republic. At that time, Barack Obama lamented the filibuster was making the nation ungovernable. Liberal commentators were up in arms over how ungovernable the nation was.

Liberal blogger Andrew Sullivan noted at the time, “f America cannot grapple with its deep and real problems after electing a new president with two majorities, then America’s problems are too great for Americans to tackle.”

The fact of the matter is, the last time liberals and traditional media sources were asking the question, they were asking it while Jimmy Carter was President. It was the penultimate Scissors-32x32.png Read More
