Obama Will Pay For Your Healthcare, But Not Your Utility Bills

July 7, 2012 | Filed under Barack Obama,Dumb Criminals | Posted by Doug Johnson

You’ve got to hand it to criminals, they know how to tap into the zeitgeist of a populace and use that against them. Via Lucianne comes this South Bend Tribune article:

OSCEOLA — It’s a new scam, said the Better Business Bureau. President Barack Obama is not offering to pay your utility bills.

In the scam, which recently hit Michiana, consumers are being contacted in person and through fliers, social media and text messages with claims that Obama is providing credits or applying payments to utility bills.

People are then asked to provide their Social Security and bank routing numbers in order to receive the money. In exchange, they snip Read More

Promises, Promises

Jul 16, 2012, Vol. 17, No. 41 • By PETER WEHNER

Barack Obama has an accountability problem. It’s not simply that during the 2008 campaign he made extravagant promises to heal the planet, slow the rise of the oceans, end political divisions in America, and usher in an era of hope and change. It’s that as a candidate and in the early days of his presidency, Obama and his top aides made a series of very specific promises on a range of issues.

As a candidate, Obama promised to create five million new energy jobs alone, claimed that by the end of his first term his health care plan would “bring down premiums by $2,500 for the typical family,” and guaranteed that his financial rescue plan would help “stop foreclosures.” As president-elect, Obama informed us that he had asked two of his top economic advisers, Christina Romer and Jared Bernstein, to conduct a “rigorous analysis” of his economic recovery plan. The report that he released predicted unemployment would not rise above 8 percent if the stimulus plan was passed. And in the first year of his presidency, Obama pledged to “cut the deficit we inherited in half by the end of my first term in office,” “lift two million Americans from poverty,” and “jolt our economy back to life.”

The problem for Obama is that his predictions were not only wrong; they were terribly wide of the mark. For example, since the president was sworn in, America has suffered a net decline of roughly half a million jobs. According to a study by the Kaiser Family Foundation, the average annual premium for family health coverage through an employer reached $15,073 in 2011—an increase of 9 percent, or $1,303, over the previous year. The 9 percent increase in family premiums between 2010 and 2011 followed an increase of 3 percent between 2009 and 2010. Under Obama, the number of foreclosures was the worst in history. In addition, last year was the worst sales year on record for housing, while home values are nearly 35 percent lower than they were five years ago.

Meanwhile, the unemployment rate has been above 8 percent for 41 consecutive months. The deficit was around $1.3 trillion the day Obama took office in the midst of the financial crisis; according to the Congressional Budget Office, in the current 2012 budget year, the deficit will be around $1.25 trillion. And a record 46 million Americans are now living in poverty.

In addition, during the Obama years we’ve experienced the weakest economic recovery on record. America’s credit rating was downgraded for the first time in our history. The standard of living for Americans fell more steeply than at any time since the government began recording it five decades ago. Income for American families has actually declined more following the economic recession than it did during the official recession itself.

Adding salt to his self-inflicted wounds, Obama, in the heady early days of his presidency, invited accountability. In February 2009, for example, the president told NBC’s Matt Lauer that if he didn’t have the economy fixed in three years, then “there’s going to be a one-term proposition.”

Given that Obama’s key economic promises haven’t been kept, what snip Read More http://www.weeklystandard.com/articles/promises-promises_648225.html

RCP Video: WSJ: The Problem With Romney's Campaign Is Mitt Romney

"I have another example that is almost as bad as the mandate-tax issue. And that is the Fourth of July jet ski photograph. Seriously. This is like John Kerry waterskiing," Wall Street Journal's Daniel Henninger said on FOX News' "Journal Editorial Report" this week. "[This] sort of supports the Obama idea that this is a rich guy that has all these expensive toys."

"Now, I think any campaign manager worth his salt would say to the candidate, 'You can not get in the water in the jet ski with all those photographers over there.' But, if the candidate himself said, 'I'm entitled to relax. I'm going to do what I want to do.' Then the problem starts at the top with Mitt Romney's political instincts. And then we're going to have a problem where two months from now you're going to have one of these Michael Dukakis photographs, like in the tank, and he'll blow his campaign out of the water," Daniel Henninger said.

In case you missed this:

WE'VE FIGURED HIM OUT!

Why was President Barack Obama in such a hurry to get his socialized medicine bill passed? Because he and his cunning circle realize some basic truths:

The American people in their unimaginable kindness and trust voted for a pig in a poke in 2008.

(Pig in a poke means: an offering or deal that is foolishly accepted without being examined first. A poke means sack.)

They wanted so much to believe Barack Obama was somehow better and different from other ultra-leftists that they simply took him on faith.

They ignored his anti-white writings in his books.

They ignored his quiet acceptance of hysterical anti-American diatribes by his minister, Jeremiah Wright.

They ignored his refusal to explain years at a time of his life as a student.

They ignored his ultra-left record as a "community organizer," Illinois state legislator, and Senator.

The American people ignored his total zero of an academic record as a student and teacher, his complete lack of scholarship when he was being touted as a scholar.

Now, the American people are starting to wake up to the truth. Barack Obama is a super likeable super leftist, and not a fan of this country.

The American people have already awakened to the truth that the stimulus bill -- a great idea in theory -- was really an immense bribe to Democrat interest groups, and in no way helped all Americans.

The American people already know that Mr. Obama's plan to lower health costs while expanding coverage and bureaucracy is a myth, a promise of something that never was and never can be --

"a bureaucracy lowering costs in a free society." Either the costs go up or the free society goes away... an historical truth.

These are perilous times. Mrs. Hillary Clinton, our Secretary of State, has given Iran the go-ahead to have nuclear weapons, an unqualified betrayal of the nation. Now, we face a devastating loss of freedom at home in health care. It will be joined by controls on our lives to "protect us" from global warming, itself largely a fraud, if believed to be caused by man. She has also signed on to a Small Firearms Treaty at the U.N. This is a back door gun control move. This is approved by the Senate and a 2nd Amendment majority doesn't exist in the Senate now. It will supersede all U.S. Law and the 2nd Amendment. All citizen possession will be eliminated through confiscation. Just Like Great Britain and Australia.

Mr. Obama knows Americans are getting wise and will stop him if he delays at all in taking away our freedoms. There is his urgency and our opportunity. Once freedom is lost, America is lost. Wake up, beloved America.

The Ancien Régime and Obama — The More Things Change …

Written by Charles Scaliger

marieantoinette-t-ap.001.jpgThe Telegraph’s Nile Gardner, a Washington-based foreign affairs analyst for the British newspaper, has compared the Obama Administration to the ancien régime of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. French savant Alexis de Tocqueville, famous for his penetrating studies of both the French monarchy and early American society, would likely be “less than impressed with the extravagance and arrogance … among the White House elites that rule America as though they had been handed some divine right to govern with impunity,” writes Gardner. Michelle Obama’s recent sumptuous trip to Spain is an act of indifferent profligacy worthy of Marie Antoinette — she who is alleged to have said, when informed that the poor of France had no bread, “Qu’ils mangent de la brioche!” (“Let them eat cake!”). Bernie Goldberg: Media Will Ignore Obama's Five Major Broken Promises

By Matt Vespa | July 10, 2012 | 12:39

The liberal media will make sure to go through the motions and occasionally hit President Obama with some critical points, but they will hold their fire when it comes to addressing five major unfulfilled campaign promises, former CBS reporter and media critic Bernie Goldberg told Fox News's Bill O'Reilly last night.

Given that the latest jobs report shows the second quarter of 2012 was the worst for job creation in two years, the media must and will criticize the president to some degree on the economy, but they will mostly resort to childishly mocking Mitt Romney's campaign gaffes and doing all they can to avoid making this November a referendum on the president's performance. Here's the relevant transcript:

BERNARD GOLDBERG: But they [liberal media] do it. They do it.

Look, can I give you another -- you like facts. Let me give you another example. There's a

piece in the current edition of The Weekly Standard by a very smart fellow named Pete Wehner, who's on FOX from time to time. I'm going to just give you five facts. Just five.

Fact No. 1, as a candidate, Barack Obama promised to Scissors-32x32.png

Obama Sinks to Historic Lows Among Blue-Collar Men

Mitt Romney was booed for this: Do you agree?

ANDREW MALCOLM

Vice President Joe "Millions of Americans Are in a Depression" Biden will speak to the NAACP convention in Houston today. Presumably he won't repeat his depression gaffe or tell another off-color joke. Biden's political partner, Barack Obama, begged off the NAACP gathering, citing a scheduling conflict, which does not appear on his calendar.

Republican Mitt Romney, who would like to help ease the pair's slide into overdue retirement, addressed the same gathering Wednesday. No one expected an ovation from the largely Democrat organization, since Romney stuck to his free enterprise platform to replace ineffective government programs. Few, however, expected outright boos for their invited guest.

We're publishing here some selective excerpts from Romney's remarks. (Scroll down for his entire text.) See if you think the former governor deserved the vocal derision:

During a campaign stop for her husband in Miami, Fla., on Tuesday, first lady Michelle Obama urged grassroots volunteers to find unregistered voters and "shake 'em," reminding them that President Obama has predicted this election "will be even closer than the last one." The Issue of 2012

The people will judge in November.

Jul 16, 2012, Vol. 17, No. 41 • By JEFFREY H. ANDERSON

Conservatives are engaged in an interesting intramural debate over National Federation of Independent Business, et al. v. Sebelius—the Obama-care case. But whether they think Chief Justice Roberts deserves hearty praise or contemptuous blame or any of the countless permutations in between, whether they love the Obama-care ruling or hate it, here’s the key short-term fact: Conservatives are now set up for a political triumph far sweeter than any contentious win in the courts. The path forward is clear, and conservatives can surely unite behind the indispensable next step: win this election, and repeal Obama-care through the political process.

And of course this won’t be merely a short-term victory. Not only is Obama-care the most important issue in the upcoming election, its survival or repeal is crucial to the fate of freedom and prosperity in the decades to come.

The good news is that Obama-care is the issue that most benefits Mitt Romney. Seemingly sensing his weakness on this crucial point, President Obama has tried to suggest to the American people that the matter is no longer theirs to decide. With no shortage of hubris, he declared a week after the ruling that “the law I passed”—note the first person—“is here to stay.” When asked a few days earlier by Scissors-32x32.png Read More

Obama’s Dupes

The young Obama voter is sticking it to himself.

By Rich Lowry

Give the Obama Youth credit for this: At least they didn’t vote their self-interest.

The cadres of college students and recent graduates who swooned and fainted for Barack Obama four years ago will long be remembered for one of the most ill-considered fliers in the annals of self-defeating enthusiasms. In the cold light of day, the youthful idealists, believers, and activists of 2008 look like the lamentable saps, patsies, and suckers of 2012.

Rarely has a politician owed so much to a constituency he has served so poorly. The president promised young voters the moon, and all they got was their old childhood bedroom back in their parents’ house. He fired them with an inspirational vision that didn’t include struggling to find a job to begin to pay off their onerous student loans. He sold a new kind of politics and gave them more debt and more entitlement spending that they will labor to fund all their working lives. He talked of hope and change — and gave it to them good and hard.

Obama’s inability to deliver a recovery worthy of the name has devastated recent Scissors-32x32.png Read More

Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign: a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing [Reader Post]

By: DrJohn

barack-goebbels.jpg

About Joseph Goebbels

Goebbels knew the power of controlling what people thought. Those that did not had to face the secret police. Those who were taken in by Goebbels were enthralled by colour film – rarely seen being used by politicians elsewhere as it was considered too unreliable. Films such as “The Eternal Jew” ( a black and white film) hammered home the anti-Semitic message of the party; “Triumph of the Will” portrayed the might of Hitler and Germany. The displays at Nuremburg – done in partnership with Albert Speer – are significant achievements even by today’s standards of size and complexities of organisation.

Barack Obama has a sketchy history with regard to elections and lying about his opponents is not a new tactic.

In 1995 he pounded Alice Palmer and drive her from a a race for the Illinois State Senate

In his first race for office, seeking a state Senate seat on Chicago’s gritty South Side in 1996, Obama effectively used election rules to eliminate his Democratic competition.

As a community organizer, he had helped register thousands of voters. But when it came time to run for office, he employed Chicago rules to invalidate the voting petition signatures of three of his challengers.

The move denied each of them, including incumbent Alice Palmer, a longtime Chicago activist, a place on the ballot. It cleared the way for Obama to run unopposed on the Democratic ticket in a heavily Democrat district.

“That was Chicago politics,” said John Kass, a veteran Chicago Tribune columnist. “Knock out your opposition, challenge their petitions, destroy your enemy, right? It is how Barack Obama destroyed his enemies back in 1996 that conflicts with his message today. He may have gotten his start registering thousands of voters. But in that first race, he made sure voters had just one choice.”

He had disinformation about Hillary Clinton distributed in 2008:

With Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland nodding in agreement behind her, Clinton accused Obama of emulating the tactics of Karl Rove, President Bush’s former political director who is reviled by Democrats.

Obama “is continuing to send false and discredited mailings with information that is not true to the voters of Ohio,” Clinton said. Watch Clinton demand a ‘real campaign’

One mailing says her health care proposal would force everyone to buy health insurance, regardless of ability to pay, a charge Clinton vehemently denied.

“Sen. Obama knows it is not true that my plan forces people to buy insurance even if they can’t afford it,” she said.

His treatment of Mitt Romney is worthy of Joseph Goebbels:

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The Scissors-32x32.png Read More

‘Ground Zero’ in Fairfax County

030.JPG

“I live about a mile away from where President Obama is speaking right now in Centreville. He is speaking at my daughter’s future High School….think about it. The President of the United states could have spoken 5 miles away at George Mason University….but decided to on a high school in must win Northern Virginia. The president’s most valuable commodity is time and instead of speaking to 1000s he decided on a smaller scale. Was he worried about filling an audience?”

UPDATE: Reader Larry Bronstein writes: “The Obama supporters who came to the rally at Centreville High School in Clifton, VA (Fairfax County) came from outside the voting precinct. Many drove cars with Maryland license plates and none of them were recognized by the 100′s of neighbors who turned out to protest Obama’s tax increases. The Obama rally was a terrible inconvenience as streets were closed and traffic stacked up, preventing residents from leaving or returning to their homes. And it appeared there weren’t even enough Obama folks to fill the high school gymnasium.”
