Japan's government last week gave in to Chinese political and economic pressure and released a Chinese fishing boat captain who had been detained pending an investigation of his ramming of two Japanese coastal patrol boats.

The Japanese Public Prosecutor released Zhan Qixiong Sept. 24, citing the interest of Sino-Japanese relations.
