Valin Posted June 7, 2010 Share Posted June 7, 2010 Helen Thomas high school speech canceled over flap AP 6/7/10 BETHESDA, MD. — A high school graduation speech by veteran White House reporter Helen Thomas has been canceled because of controversial remarks she made about Israel, the school's principal said in an e-mail Sunday. Thomas had been scheduled to speak at the June 14 graduation of Walt Whitman High School, but Principal Alan Goodwin wrote in the e-mail to students and parents that she was being replaced. The school in the Washington suburb of Bethesda, Md., hasn't picked a new speaker. Not reported is that the White House is upset & in a quandary. Helen provided that moment of spontaneous inanity that typified a White House briefing. Always asking the hard questions, that would normally be scripted by the WH, but came naturally to a liberal, socialist bigot; her shrill voice will be sorely missed. Obama, through Gibbs, proposed keeping her chair vacant for a period of mourning, but the Press Corps asked to have it thoroughly cleaned & put in the back of the room. He was playing some nice soul music for a bumper the other night, Barry White style but not Barry White. Paraphrasing Miller, "man, if you can't get laid to that in your back seat, you're loser".
