Sanguine
The Hill: Tongue firmly in cheek, Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) on Tuesday afternoon called on reporters to demand to see the birth certificate of new Rep. Charles Djou (R-Hawaii). As Djou (pictured here) was being sworn into office, Frank walked the hallway of the Speaker's Lobby off the House floor calling on the media to "do your job" and review Djou's papers. It was a small bit of payback for the enormous amount of attention some conservatives (and the media) paid to the is-the-president-really-from-America controversy. But, unlike the commander-in-chief, as Frank knows, being born outside the U.S. does not preclude you from becoming a member of Congress. He's a funny guy, that Barney is. I'd love to see this go a bit farther. Hopefully Djou will play along.
Geee
I would like to see proof that Barney Frank is not an alien, and I'm not talking another country here
SrWoodchuck
Sanguine! Thank you for the post. "Tongue firmly planted in cheek, Rep. Barney Frank......" It's hard to get past that mental image and not comment, but discretion is the better part of decorum. Suggested Representative Djou retorts: Using progessive tactics of assigning blame & then hounding for proof of innocence-- "Show me proof that you didn't aid & abet Franklin Raines in looting Fannie/Freddie & causing this world-wide meltdown first, Barney!" Using the progressive tactic of personal attack-- "First you show me your latest AIDS test results!" Using the vernacular, and alluding to Barney's preferred position-- "Yo..beeeyaaatch!"
