President Trump issued a stern warning on Tuesday, telling Republicans they could lose their seats — and the House majority — in 2018 if they fail to repeal and replace ObamaCare, GOP sources said.

During a closed-door meeting in the basement of the Capitol, Trump told rank-and-file House Republicans if the party is not successful in passing its healthcare bill, "I believe many of you will lose in 2018," according to a source in the room.

"He told us if we don’t pass this bill on Thursday, it will put everything in jeopardy that he wants to do, his agenda,” Rep. John Duncan (R-Tenn.) told The Hill as he left the meeting.Scissors-32x32.png

Freedom Caucus chairman shrugs off Trump warning on 2018

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), chairman of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, says he's not worried about losing his seat in 2018 if the ObamaCare repeal plan fails.

"I serve at the pleasure of the people of western North Carolina, and when you serve at their pleasure, it's only those 750,000 people that can send you home," Meadows told reporters Tuesday.

"It's a temporary job, and I've known that from day one."

Meadows’s comments came minutes after President Trump addressed the GOP conference Tuesday, telling members that they could lose their seats — and the House majority in 2018 — if they fail to repeal and replace ObamaCare.

McConnell: 'I would hate to be a Republican' who blocks ObamaCare repeal

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is firing a warning shot to his fellow Republicans ahead of key test for the GOP effort to repeal and replace ObamaCare.

"I would hate to be a Republican whose vote prevented us from keeping the commitment we've made to the American people for almost 10 years now," McConnell told the Associated Press, referring to their years-long pledge to nix the Affordable Care Act.

McConnell's comments to the AP come as President Trump warned about the potential political fallout if Republicans fail to pass a House bill to repeal and replace the Obama-era law.

Trump regroups at White House after Capitol Hill meeting fails to close healthcare deal

President Donald Trump has invited reluctant Republicans to a White House meeting later today after a meeting on Capitol Hill failed to convince enough Republicans to support the bill to repeal and replace Obamacare, even after Trump warned that Republicans who vote against the bill could lose their seats in 2018.

Trump also punctuated his meeting with House Republicans by warning, "if the House doesn't pass this bill, Republicans will lose the House in 2018."

But Trump's rallying cry and late-night changes that were made to the bill weren't enough to get conservatives on board, which means Trump will try again at the White House later today.

"The president's great," Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, said after the meeting. "The bill is still bad. The bill hasn't changed."Scissors-32x32.png

That's all you have to do is to listen to Gruber and the other idiot Immanuel - two of the biggest authors of this insane health care law to know why this healthcare thing was so bungled. They are pointy headed elites that dont live in the real world. When they first started the legislation i read many of Immanuel's writings. He is the author of the 'death panels'. He talks about people so coldly and abstractly as if they were just numbers.

Take It or Leave It: House to Vote on TrumpCare Tomorrow, POTUS Threatens to Walk Away if Bill Fails

Last night's perceived "breakthrough" didn't quite pan out as expected today. The House Freedom Caucus showed up at the White House this morning and declined to take President Trump's final offer, and now it looks like exasperated Republican leaders have seen enough. Rather than allow negotiations to drag on interminably, there will be a vote. Tomorrow. And the chips will fall as they may. As Cortney reported earlier, President Trump has declared that if recalcitrant House Republicans vote with Nancy Pelosi to kill the American Health Care Act, he will walk away from the issue and allow Obamacare to remain in place. That's some real hardball, daring Republicans to defy him.Scissors-32x32.png

Freedom Caucus Can Just Walk Away
Quin Hillyer
March 24, 2017

Members of the House Freedom Caucus have shown they want the moon, or nothing, when considering reform of health-care policy. They aren’t going to get the moon, so what they should do is nothing. If they won’t vote “yes,” they also should not vote “no” and not vote “present” either. Just put out a press release making all their usual assertions that everybody else is a weak-kneed coward unwilling to stand on principle, and then, in a great show of moral purity, walk out of the House chamber in protest just as the vote is being called.

That way, they will be able to signal their disgust without actually killing the only extant vehicle to replace Obamacare with something that tremendously improves Medicaid, expands health-savings accounts, re-introduces market forces into the system, repeals numerous taxes, and reduces the federal debt (compared to current law) bytens or even hundreds of billions of dollars over the next decade.

For the bill to pass the House at this stage, it does not need a majority of all elected House members; it needs a majority of those present and voting. So for every two congressmen who walk out in protest, the number of votes needed for passage drops by one.

What the Freedom Caucus must understand is that this vote today essentially amounts to a procedural ballot. It merely provides a blueprint from which the Senate can work. The Senate will probably take several months, if the bill is sent its way, to re-mold it and fix any flaws while the Freedom Caucus weighs in from across the Capitol, knowing that its block of votes eventually will be crucial. When the Senate has done its work, the bill will go back to the House — and then, not before, will come the vote on final passage at which time the Freedom Caucus can decide once and for all if the new legislation well serves the American public.

Of course most of the Freedom Caucus believes the Senate will make the bill worse rather than better. But what’s the harm in finding out? Whom does it hurt?....(Snip)
