He will then deliver his inaugural address.

The Week in Pictures: Special Inaugural Gala Edition

Steven Hayward

January 20, 2017

I know, the Week in Pictures usually appears on Saturday, but given that it’s Inauguration Day today, it seems to me that we ought to have it up as a nice way to pass the last few hours of President Obama. By noon, we can start saying that happy phrase, “EX-President Obama.” And right after, the remarkable words, “President Trump.” I distinctly remember being in Washington on January 20, 1981, for the swearing in of Ronaldus Magnus, but for weeks finding I needed to pinch myself at the phrase “President Reagan.” “President Trump” has that same feel.

DisruptJ20 blocking checkpoints and breaking windows in Washington D.C.

posted at 12:01 pm on January 20, 2017 by John Sexton

The DisruptJ20 people are doing their best to make a mess of Washington D.C., exactly as they said they would. So far there have been blocked checkpoints and broken windows. Police even used teargas on a group of anarchists. Here’s a round-up of what is going on this morning.

First, protesters are shutting down various checkpoints by chaining/locking themselves together across the entrances. The following tweets and video come from DC Examiner reporter Ryan Lovelace:

So Trump already doing business. Memo to all agencies freeze on all regulations in process. Sign two items for Kelly and Mattis, and some new executive order for relief from Obamacare with info to come.

The order says Cabinet heads "shall exercise all authority and discretion available to them to waive, defer, grant exemptions from, or delay" any provision in the Affordable Care Act that would impose a "cost, fee, tax, penalty or regulatory burden"
