See ya–Signed C.S.A.

By

A fellow by the name of Marcus Ruiz Evans was on Fox’s Tucker Carlson program recently. He offered his stance on secession vis-à-vis California’s consideration. His position stood apropos for the Golden Bears because the Supreme Court in its Texas vs White decision of 1869 had offered a loophole bearing on the people’s consent to secede.

This bears, of course, on any understanding that Texas vs White had any legality in the first place in a “reconstructed” government of Southern states. The loophole was that secession could be legal and appropriate as long as the people of the other states approved it. This also was Evans’ justification for California seceding today (the other people say it’s okay) as opposed to the South’s in 1860-61.

According to Evans the South had not asked permission and anyway the South did not like equal rights for minorities (his words). Neither did the South want a good partnership with the North. And to top it off the South, as well, seceded violently. He is inaccurate in each and every. . . , but it doesn’t matter. Something can always be right for California or New York but never can it be right for Texas or Mississippi Scissors-32x32.png

They're Back: States' Rights and Secession Democrats

By J. Robert Smith

Democrats are rediscovering their roots. States' rights assertions and secession talk, long the domain of disaffected conservatives, are being embraced by today's Democrats. Donald J. Trump's ascendancy to the presidency is estranging Democrats, they say. John C. Calhoun might be smiling from his eternal perch.

Attempts to nullify federal law and talk about breaking away states by Democrats may open a Pandora's box.

Pushing for state defiance of Uncle Sam invites red-state conservatives to do likewise in future times, when an Obama clone becomes president and Democrats run Congress – provided, of course, that the U.S. is still intact.

Californians, in particular, are fueling new norms with their determination to be a sanctuary state. Declaring a state a safe haven for illegals defies federal laws. The president has a constitutional and statutory obligation to enforce those laws. But no matter. Democrats are making a bold declaration: states' "rights" supersede federal laws. Red states are taking note. What's good for California today may be good for Texas down the road. Scissors-32x32.png

California and the Ghost of John C. Calhoun

Posted on February 13, 2017 by The Political Hat

Now that the Democrats are out of power in the Federal government (Leftist mameluks in the bureaucracy notwithstanding), the one-party People’s Republic of California has decided to embrace the Virginia and Kentucky Resolutions and take up the States’ Rights cause of John C. Calhoun for Nullification.

Despite cheering when Federal courts struck down laws regarding illegal aliens in California and Arizona, and despite having no problem with the Federal government micro-managing ponds on private property, California Democrats now want Federal jurisdiction to stand aside to state supremacy:

‘The state lieutenant governor, Gavin Newsom, who is running for governor, said California could use its stringent environmental protection law to block Mr. Trump from building a wall along the Mexican border.”

As nice as it is that the California Democrats have rediscovered the 10th Amendment, it is rather obvious that such recognition will exist only as far as it is convenient for them. Scissors-32x32.png

Let the Bear Flag Go

By Brion McClanahan on Feb 27, 2017

A large portion of California wants to secede.

That’s a good thing.

American conservatives should not only applaud the move, they should be doing everything possible to help them find the door.

Image a world without Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, Diane Feinstein, or Kamala Harris; where Democrats would not start the presidential election cycle with nearly one quarter of the Electoral College votes needed to win the election; where the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit would disappear; where every radical Leftist group could set up shop and get out of real America; where every illegal immigrant could find a home in the sanctuary State.

And that is only the beginning.

Real America could finally get its culture back without the perversions of Hollywood.

They can keep the Grammys, the Golden Globes, and the Emmys.

A divorce of incompatible things is preferable to an abusive marriage. Scissors-32x32.png https://www.abbevilleinstitute.org/blog/let-the-bear-flag-go/
