The Week in Pictures: Toxic Democrats Edition

Steven Haywrd

June 24 2017

I haven’t seem Democrats this dispirited since. . . yesterday. And I haven’t seen Democrats this angry since. . . also yesterday. They lost a special election because the rubes in Georgia just won’t recognize their nobility (though to their credit a few Democrats have openly admitted that their brand is “toxic”), and their complaints that a proposal to control health care spending is going to kill literally millions is a new level of demagoguery. I’m looking forward to the TV ad for this talking point: Will it feature Paul Ryan pushing millions of wheelchair-bound grannies all at once over a fiscal cliff? If so, it will the best endorsement of the P90X workout ever.

@Valin! That Indian Hills Community Center is only about 10 minutes from my house...on a great twisty, turny, 12 mile drive...up to the canyon that leads to Evergreen, Colorado. Once considered buying an old log & stone home there...but have had many an afternoon driving our 280Z, Jaguar & 73 Mustang Mach One up through Indian Hills. Haven't taken the Audi Quattro up there yet...

The Week in Pictures: Media Meltdown Edition

Steven Hayward

July 1 2017

Is this the week we’ll look back on for the moment when the mainstream media crossed over into full stark-raving madness? CNN had to fire three reporters and producers for running a genuine fake story, Sarah Palin is making a strong bid to become a minority shareholder of the New York Times (even as its reporters stage symbolic walkouts to protest layoffs), and Salon cemented its spot in the so-called “reality-based community” by refusing to print Trump’s name for an entire day. How brave of them. The Trump Administration’s decision to limit cameras in press briefings has outraged journalists who think that they get to set the rules, which only goes to reinforce what we know about how they regard voters—you know, the people in charge in democracy.

Except When He's Not

I can't figure Paul Ryan out.  Is he a good guy or part of the establishment?  (I am ignoring the sleeveless dress story.)

The Week in Pictures: CNN Beatdown Edition

Steven Hayward

July 8 2017

Some time last week I tweeted out a question of whether the old adage “never get into a fight with someone who buys ink by the barrel” is obsolete in the age of pixels, and CNN’s serial face plants, along with the relentless internet mockery of said face plants, would seem to have answered that question firmly in the affirmative. CNN must be thanking its lucky stars that Gov. Christie was around this week to screw up even worse.

Have to share the following that I just heard on Fox and Friends this morning. Stuart Varney and the 3 anchors of the show were discussing how our press has covered NONE of the good things about President Trump and the G20 that the rest of the world Foreign Press has highlighted.

Headlines Varney mentioned where some Foreign Press hails President G20 Performance:

The Times of Israel - "Trump wins key climate, trade concessions at stormy G20"

The Australian - "Trump defines soaring vision"

The Daily Telegraph (UK) - Ignore the Trump haters. His defence of Western civilisation is right."

POLITICO EU - "Donald Trump predicts 'very powerful' trade deal with UK"

Varney (paraphrased) : Democrats  and others on left are contemptuous of anything Pres. Trump does. The "elites' come down hard on Trump. They are very much in favor of the European way of going  (socialism) - cradle to grave security, talk down the military, open borders which are exactly opposite of Trump's direction. They want to say that anything and everything Trump does is bad or wrong.  The European model is unsustainable in a  cradle to grave  declining population. You can't fail to protect yourself over several generations and survive.
