The Week in Pictures: Nuke the Gay Whales for Gorsuch Edition

Steven Hayward

Apr. 8 2017

One of my favorite bumper stickers from the late 1970s was “Nuke the Gay Whales for Jesus,” which managed to skewer several pieties at once. I’ll take nuking the Senate filibuster for the confirmation of Judge Gorsuch. It’s hard to believe the Democrats could be so dumb. Next thing you know they’ll nominate a corrupt, unappealing 69-year-old woman for president. Oh, wait. . .

Blues for Brooke Baldwin

Scott Johnson

4/8/17

CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin badly wanted Syrian guest Kassem Eid to trash President Trump. Eid is a 2013 gas attack survivor who now lives in Germany. Baldwin tried to recover after Eid did the unthinkable and actually expressed gratitude to Trump. She was prepared with video cued up and ready to go. Baldwin’s effort, however, blew up in her face rather impressively (video below).

JOHN adds: We have made this point repeatedly. The humanitarian thing to do is not bringing tens of thousands of Syrians to America as refugees. Rather, at a fraction of the expense we can protect vastly more Syrians where they live, and where they want to stay. And if we really want to be humanitarians, we should lead a movement to bring the insane carnage in Syria to an end

Everyone repeat after me The Is No Voter Fraud!

Mexican woman in Texas sentenced to 8 years in prison for voter fraud

A Mexican citizen living in Texas was sentenced this week to eight years in prison for voting illegally in elections in 2012 and 2014.

Rosa Maria Ortega, 37, was found guilty Wednesday on two counts of illegal voting after she falsely claimed to be a United States citizen and voted at least five times between 2012 and 2014.

A jury sentenced her Thursday to eight years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

Scissors-32x32.png

The Dallas News reported Ortega voted in the November 2012 election and May 2014 GOP primary runoff in Dallas County.

According to Fox 4 News, Ortega’s identity came into question after she tried to register to vote twice in Tarrant County. Both applications were denied.

She had voted in five elections in Dallas before her registration was canceled in April 2015.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton – for whom Ortega voted in 2014 – assisted in the prosecution.

“This case shows how serious Texas is about keeping its elections secure, and the outcome sends a message that violators of the state’s election law will be prosecuted to the fullest,” he said.

Every Week, Vietnam War Vets Wash Their Memorial Wall. Today, They Had Powerful Help http://ijr.com/2017/04/843688-every-week-vietnam-vets-physically-wash-memorial-wall-today-powerful-help/

The Vietnam War Memorial is hallowed ground.

In a city of gleaming white marble monuments and pink cherry blossoms, the black, sunken facade, etched with the 58,307 names of the fallen, stands out as a haunting tribute to the sacrifice of a generation.

The memorial itself stirs emotion. When anyone, young or old, looks into the polished volcanic rock of the wall, it looks back. At it's highest point the wall is over 10 feet tall. It envelops its visitors with names of those who lost their lives in a war which lasted nearly two decades.

It can be overwhelming to visit. For the hundreds of thousands of Vietnam veterans still alive, it is a place of eternal significance.

The wall itself is open to the public 24 hours a day 365 days a year. It is our nation's most embraceable monument. You can touch it, rest your head against it and cry on it. No one will stop you.

Paper and pencils are even provided at the memorial to encourage guests to make a stencil of an engraved name. Due to the hands-on nature of the memorial, it is imperative that the wall remains polished and immaculate, not just for the many millions of visitors a year, but for the legacies of the fallen etched within it.

However, the wall has not always been maintained at the level one would hope.

Veterans visiting the wall during the Clinton-era began to notice that the traffic to the memorial was increasing, yet it was only being cleaned once a month. It was becoming dingy. These veterans got angry and did something about it. The Washington Post reports:

In 1998, dissatisfied with the job that the National Park Service was doing and upset that bird droppings had filled in some of the engraved names, Jan Scruggs of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund took action. He handed 37 toothbrushes to visiting vets from Wisconsin, who scrubbed the filth away.

In order to keep the memorial in pristine condition, local veteran groups offered to help with maintenance of the hallowed ground. The Park Service agreed. Now, approximately once every weekend in peak tourist season (spring and summer), a different veteran group or community service will arrive at sunrise, long before the throngs of tourists show up, to wash the wall.

The labor is intensive but in the end, every inch of the 247-foot wall gets sprayed down, scrubbed by hand and polished.

Many of the men and women who show up to clean are veterans themselves, cleaning a memorial built in their honor.

So it was on the morning of Sunday, April 9, when Virginia and Maryland chapters of Rolling Thunder rode into the memorial before sunrise. Clad in leather motorcycle gear with a colorful array of patriotic patches sewn in, a dozen members of the iconic biker club, most of them veterans, readied for an hour of washing and scrubbing the black wall.

Today, however, they had some extra help. Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke would be scrubbing alongside them.

I agree with @nickydog about going, @Valin! I've had several friends go and they all came back with a good remembrance. You should go now, while Trump is in office...as the next Liberal sitting in the WH might close it down in a fit of pique...

Pentagon awards contract to United Airlines to forcibly remove Assad

http://www.duffelblog.com/2017/04/pentagon-awards-contract-united-airlines-forcibly-remove-assad/

assadunited-750x430.jpg

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon announced Tuesday it had awarded a sole-source contract to United Airlines for work related to the forcible removal of President Bashar al-Assad from Syria.

The contract, worth $2.1 billion, tasks the airline company with locating Assad, grabbing him from his seat in the presidential palace, and “dragging him out of Damascus by his arms.” The contract also notes that Assad should be “asked several times, politely” to give up his seat of power, though if he refuses, United workers should bloody his nose up a bit, according to the posting at FedBizOpps.

The award comes just days after President Donald Trump authorized the launch of cruise missiles at a Syrian air base, in response to Assad’s use of chemical weapons. Two Navy ships launched 59 Tomahawk missiles into Syria, which destroyed roughly 20% of its operational aircraft and a Green Beans Coffee shop being used by the Russian army.

Soon after the strikes, some in the Trump White House began calling for regime change in Syria. Nikki Haley, the US ambassador to the United Nations, told reporters that peace in Syria “could not be achieved” with Assad remaining in power.

Though US military officials have struggled in recent months with a plan for removing Assad, United Airlines cleared its final hurdle for the military’s request for proposal on Monday, when it ordered police officers to forcibly remove a passenger from a flight that was overbooked.

Monday’s test run was “more successful than we could have hoped,” said Charlie Hobart, a spokesman for United.

United will be sending one of its aircraft to Damascus sometime next week, where it will land and carry out the plan called for in the contract.

It’s not yet clear whether United employees will actually carry out the forcible removal of Assad. One source said it’s possible the company may subcontract that portion of the work requirement to the Chicago Police Department, Wells Fargo, or Comcast.

NEWSBREAKING: MALARIA OBAMA EXPELLED FROM HARVARD

http://thenewyorkevening.com/2017/04/10/breaking-malia-obama-expelled-harvard/

Posted Image

Malia Obama, who has decided that as an adult she wants to be a pot smoking, rap listening, twerking party girl, has been ousted from the student roster at Harvard University. The school’s chancellor, Malcolm Little, said that regardless of her status as a former first daughter, the rules are the rules and she won’t be welcome there this fall.

The stunning announcement came after Malia was caught in a Boston hotel lounge vaping marijuana with friends. Harvard has a strict no drug policy. Massachusetts is one of the states that now allows for recreational marijuana and the hotel is “weed friendly,” but that doesn’t change the fact that she broke the rules.

Malia’s lawyer has pointed out that the school has turned the other way on the marijuana issue when their entire rowing team, made up of 14 white males, was caught selling and smoking marijuana cigarettes during the offseason. Chancellor Little remarked that the difference was that the members of the rowing team are hard-working, established students whose parents are paying cash for their education while Malia hasn’t attended yet, isn’t planning on playing a sport and is going to the school on a combination of a scholarship from the Clinton Foundation and taxpayer-funded grants.

The Week in Pictures: Liberalism for Children Edition

Steven Hayward

April 15 2017

I hadn’t realized, until I got sidetracked on an Amazon book search, that liberalism has fully transformed itself into a creed for children. Check out the first few titles below. Meanwhile, United Airlines is the gift that keeps on giving, but shouldn’t we actually praise them? In these polarizing times, no one has done as much to unite the American people as the appropriately named United. If they need to alter their brand name to fix their current PR problem, perhaps they can change their name to Citizens United. Oh, wait. . .

Pro-Trumper's Give Atomic Wedgies to Anti-Fa's

Trump Supporters FIGHT BACK – BEAT ANTIFA THUGS – Chase Them Down Street https://www.teaparty.org/trump-supporters-fight-back-beat-antifa-thugs-chase-street-give-weggies-video-230349/

C9fsHizXcAAll0U.jpg

The #antifa thugs were so thoroughly beaten in #Berkeley, so humiliated, that before they fled in shame,

some were subjected to wedgies.

Supporters of President Trump held a rally today in Berkeley, California. Hundreds of far left Antifa thugs turned out to disrupt the protest and beat heads.

The police were no where in sight.

The police were no where to be seen when hundreds of Antifa thugs interrupted the pro-Trump rally. The Trump supporters were on their own.

It is impossible to hold a conservative event in Berkeley, California any more. The left is just too violent.

The police were no where in sight.

As reader Christopher said, “Not having it anymore, not tolerating their violence anymore, free speech supporting Americans are fighting back.”

The Antifa fascists started throwing bricks and rebar at the Trump supporters after they were chased down the street.

Breaking: It's Official! California's Bid Has Just Failed!!

http://redstatewatcher.com/article.asp?id=74573

California-Communist-Bear-Flag.jpg

NYDailyNews.com reported: SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Supporters of one long-shot bid to make California an independent nation ended their effort on Monday, while another group said it will launch a new campaign for a statewide vote next year.

The drive to make the nation's most populous state its own country, with what would be the world's sixth-largest economy, has drawn extra interest after last year's election of Republican Donald Trump as president.

But the Yes California Independence Campaign faltered after its president, Louis Marinelli, revealed ties to Russia. Marinelli said in a lengthy message to supporters Monday that he is seeking permanent residence in Russia because of his "frustration, disappointment and disillusionment with the United States."

Mischief is a Superpower

Apr. 19 2017

I have a client whom I have represented 3-4 times in the last several months. It is always the same charge: disorderly conduct. He appears to have several intellectual disabilities, he is old, he is alone, and he is in the habit of taking long walks around his neighborhood*. His neighbors find him to be strange and are in the habit of calling the police and the police are in the habit of arresting him and charging him with disorderly conduct. The District Attorneys are in the habit of 'letting' him plead to the charges after a night in jail and go home. His defense attorneys are in the habit of advising him to take that deal. I got sick of watching my client be subjected to harassment and to mounting court costs, so after getting his agreement, I decided that some alternative tactics were in order.

The Week in Pictures: I Can’t Even Edition

Steven Hayward

April 22 2017

Too many clown cars colliding this week. Today is Earth Day (yawn), and also some kind of self-parodying science march, which will do for science with the woman’s march in January did for feminism. (But how will they outdo the hats?) I’m following the Berkeley/Ann Coulter drama in real time; stay tuned for updates. And Monday is Trump Day 100. Given that Trump has done everything contrary to the usual presidential story line, I expect he’s right that the traditional 100 Day mark doesn’t mean that much. And then there’s the Norks. . .

If everyone had a good paying income, reliable healthcare, and the means with which, at minimum, to maintain their standard of living, I don't believe they'd have anything to want to commit acts of terror for.

The constant effect of the fear that one might not be able to provide for oneself, far less one's family, is mentally debilitating. It's no wonder some people go off the rails. It would be infinitely less expensive to provide shelter, food and healthcare for everyone than to build any more weapons.

I'll grant a few advances have been made during times of great "need" (war), but many more advances have been euthanized, along with the lives that were going to create them. I firmly believe the human race will not advance any further until we ALL learn to work/live together.

John Lennon's "Imagine" was the best song ever. That it's taken another 50 years to fail to implement is an indictment on all of us.
