NICE, France | By Richard Lough and Johnny Cotton

July 16 2016

Islamic State claimed responsibility on Saturday for the truck attack that killed at least 84 people celebrating Bastille Day in the French city of Nice and police arrested three more people there in connection with the seafront carnage.

"The person who carried out the operation in Nice, France, to run down people was one of the soldiers of Islamic State," the Amaq news agency affiliated with the militant Islamist group said on its Telegram account.

"He carried out the operation in response to calls to target nationals of states that are part of the coalition fighting Islamic State."

Saturday's arrests concerned his "close entourage", police sources said. Two other people, including the attacker's wife, had already been detained.

Bouhlel had been in France for 10 years and lived locally.

Bouhlel was known to police for petty crimes but was not on a watch list of suspected militants. He had one criminal conviction for road rage, having been sentenced to probation three months ago for throwing a wooden pallet at another driver.

Edwin Bakker, Professor at the Centre for Terrorism and Counterterrorism at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands, said Islamic State's claim did not necessarily point to any formal link.

ISIS Had Nothing To Do With This, Because Bouhlel Was Not Carrying An Official ISIS Identity Card.

Didn't it. Same with San Bernardino, Garland, Texas, Time Square Jihad Jane....etc...etc. By Monday Tuesday at the latest Nice will be a page 3 story.

Bouhlel Had Help?
John Hinderaker
July 17, 2016

rench police have arrested seven people in connection with Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel’s terrorist attack in Nice, six of whom are reportedly still in custody. It has emerged that Bouhlel sent a series of texts to accomplices, or at a minimum to people who knew what he intended to do. The texts said things like “Bring more weapons. Bringing in 5,” and “It’s good. I have the equipment,” according to French television.

The authorities are also investigating Bouhlel’s associates in Tunisia, where he grew up before moving to France as a young man. Bouhlel reportedly was “thrilled” by the 2015 Islamic terrorist attack at Sousse, where 38 tourists were murdered on the beach, and authorities are looking into whether Bouhlel’s friends were among those who assisted Seifiddine Rezgui Yacoubi, the electrical engineering student–what else?–who carried out the Sousse massacre.

It also appears that Bouhlel’s brother may be a radical, if multiple selfies with shotguns are any indication. One of Mohamed’s brothers–I am not sure whether it is the same one–says that Mohamed had a considerable sum of money, approximately $150,000 in the bank “through selling phones.” If Mohamed really did have that sort of cash on hand, the police no doubt will be interested in where it came from.

Nice attack: Prosecutor says suspect had accomplices
July 21 2016

Nice truck attacker Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel received logistical support for his Bastille Day attack from five suspects who are now in custody, French prosecutor Francois Molins has said.

Mr Molins told a news conference the crime had been planned for months.

He said one of the suspects had filmed the scene of the attack the day after.

All five are facing preliminary terrorism charges for their alleged roles in helping Lahouaiej-Bouhlel, a Tunisian living in Nice.

Note to self if ever involved in terrorism... don't go back and film the scene....

Remember the 92 WTC bombing? They were able to round them up because one idiot wanted his $400.00 rental deposit back.
