Shoot-out in suburbia: Assault rifle-wielding men cause chaos across Houston - riddling cars with bullets, killing a bystander and setting a gas station on fire as they engage in wild gun battle

· One 'hit a gas pump, starting fire' as shooting went through a gas station

· A civilian was shot dead by a random bullet that burst through his window

· Eventually one gunman was shot dead by the other, then a SWAT team officer shot and wounded the surviving gunman

· Two police officers were wounded - one shot in the body, one in the hand

· Three other civilians were shot and wounded and taken to hospital

· Both supsects were armed with assault rifles, possibly AR-15s, police said

2 shooters open fire in West Houston

Two shooters opened fire on police officers and residents in west Houston on Sunday morning, leaving one person dead, two police officers wounded and three others injured.

 

One of the shooters was also killed by a SWAT officer at the scene, which unfolded at 13200 Memorial at 10:15 a.m. The other shooter was shot by police and is in critical condition at an area hospital, said interim Houston Police Chief Martha Montalvo in a press conference Sunday afternoon

The shooting occurred at Memorial Drive Tire & Auto Center. A fire at a gas station across the street may have started when a bullet from the fire exchanged between the shooters and police struck a gas pump, Montalvo said.

 

Armed with AR-15s, the shooters left five bullet holes in a police helicopter circling over the active shooting scene.
