Our country today is in a crisis the likes of which we’ve never seen before: during a period of exceptional global instability, we’re being led by a president who has absolutely no grasp of the danger we’re in; who seems almost bemused by it.

Yikes. It’s like being aboard a jumbo jet at 30,000 feet above the ocean with thunderstorms all around, the number-two engine sputtering while under the control of a pilot who marched with Occupy Wall Street, somehow got hired by the airline even though he’d never actually flown a plane before, and is having so much fun sending out selfies of himself decked out in a captain’s uniform that he doesn’t even hear the alarms going off all around the cockpit. Next paragraph, from the article:

In a ghastly situation like this, you don’t waste time organizing a review of the airline’s hiring practices. And even if there’s a qualified pilot on board, there’s no way to break through the cockpit’s steel security door to replace the clown at the controls. This is an emergency, which means that all that matters is figuring out how to talk that pilot safely down onto a runway, with the least possible loss of life.

That assumes the so-called pilot is willing to listen to ground control. If it was Obama, he'd be tying up the radio making snarky comments about the ground-controller's mother.

1. I'm a big fan of Herb's

2. When I see/hear the words "a crisis the likes of which we’ve never seen before", alarm bells go off...and red lights flash. Because you can find just about anything you want in history.

3. Now I'm gonna do something really strange...radical..extreme....read the article because of 1

Are there some “deals” that Republicans can cut with the White House that are just awful, but better for our country’s future safety than no deal at all?

From an earlier post..

We keep seeing all these articles/comments on Obama's Polling numbers...like he cares. Barack Obama doesn't do Deals, particularly with Republicans...if the last 6 years are any indication.

I wish I knew what the answer is. The problem is Obama is not a radical Leftist. He is in the mainstream of the modern (post 1968) Democratic party. Now he is not running for office any more I doubt even his own party will have any control over him...if they are inclined to do so.

You know me...I hate going Doom & Gloom....but I've got a real bad feeling.

IMO the best we can do is 1. survive the next 2 years 2. stop him where we can. 3 (most importantly) give encouragement to the adults or those who are willing to listen in the Democratic party. Because 10 years from now there will be a Democrat living in the White House.

I think one can go a long way toward understanding Obama if one just thinks of him as his father's son: A violent anti-colonialist in love with the machete. Furthermore, he considers the US a "colonial power," even though our colonies were scarce as hens' teeth. It's beyond a racial issue for him, he hates the US, UK and all the European powers equally, because he thinks they harmed his native Kenya.

But understanding him isn't the point anymore. @Valin is right with his 3 points. What scares the heck out of me now is that you've got a real bad feeling, @Valin.

We're still dealing with Jimmy Carter's blunders.
