Valin
NY Times: JEREMY W. PETERS OCT. 29, 2014 Democrats hope blunt ads being distributed in Southern states like Arkansas and Georgia will draw more black voters to the polls. In the final days before the election, Democrats in the closest Senate races across the South are turning to racially charged messages — invoking Trayvon Martin’s death, the unrest in Ferguson, Mo., and Jim Crow-era segregation — to jolt African-Americans into voting and stop a Republican takeover in Washington. The images and words they are using are striking for how overtly they play on fears of intimidation and repression. And their source is surprising. The effort is being led by national Democrats and their state party organizations — not, in most instances, by the shadowy and often untraceable political action committees that typically employ such provocative messages. In North Carolina, the “super PAC” started by Senator Harry Reid of Nevada, the majority leader, ran an ad on black radio that accused the Republican candidate, Thom Tillis, of leading an effort to pass the kind of gun law that “caused the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.” (Snip) ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Comments Maxine Chicago 11 minutes agoWhy can't the Times simply state the obvious honestly and directly? The Democrats are afraid, desperate to hold on to power and are engaged in old fashioned race baiting. Those who are posting here must realize that using the "Republicans did it too sometime in the past" excuse is childish. That is a second grader's excuse. "But mom Johnny did it too." My mother and Sister Elizabeth would both have given me a knuckle to the head for that nonsense. Grow up. Establishment politicians, but especially Democrats, will do or say anything to further their personal fortunes. Everything they do or say is run through that filter. Democrats oppose real growth and maturity in the body politic. For their personal futures and fortunes they must retain racial divisions, ward heeling politics, 19th century political tactics and a dumbed down, dependent, emotional and easily manipulated party base. That explains our Democrat run failed public education system, our largely craven liberal media, the amnesty, illegal immigration mess, the Ebola confusion and the identity race politics of the Democrat Party. Yes, it is that simple. Carl Clark New York 15 minutes agoSome weapons are a sign of weakness when you use them, and the race card is the epitome of this philosophy. I don't know how African Americans can look at the Democratic Party without shaking their collective head in disgust with the way the DNC simply assumes their participation....I don't like to be taken for granted, but that sure looks like the case here, and democrats have used race as an issue for far too long. I agree with Charles Barkley's comment about poor people voting left for 50 years with literally no actual benefit to themselves. Not at all poor people are African American, mind you, but listening to the siren call of the Pelosi crowd has been a disaster for that community. Draggingtree
The Democrats’ Desperate, Race-Baiting PushBy: Leon H. Wolf (Diary) | October 30th, 2014 at 08:28 AM As several key Senate races head down to the wire, many embattled Democrats have, in desperation, resorted to their most reliable, tried and true tactic: race baiting. None has done so more gratuitously or offensively than the pasty white creature of privilege Sen. Kay Hagan (D-NC)4% who has distributed flyers suggesting that if Thom Tillis won, blacks would be lynched and more recently suggested that Thom Tillis killed Trayvon Martin. In response to these gratuitous and offensive tactics, Thom Tillis objected publicly to the race-baiting of Hagan’s campaign; for doing so he was subjected to a National Journal story which ran an incredible headline suggesting that “both sides” were injecting race into the NC Senate campaign. But it’s important to remember that however little the Republicans have to offer America, the Democrats are offering much, much worse. http://www.redstate.com/2014/10/30/democrats-desperate-race-baiting-push/

Valin
Warning Racist Dog Whistle Alert!!!Race Baiting Campaign Shows Obama Biggest FailureMichael Medved10.31.2014 Regardless of the final outcome of Tuesday’s midterm elections, the Democratic campaign has exposed Barack Obama’s heart-breaking failure in pursuit of the primary goal that made him president: healing the bitter divisions between black and white in America. Instead of affirming the ringing declaration that “we are one people” that electrified the country in his convention keynote address of 2004, the president and his allies have fanned fear, rage and resentment in the black community in a desperate ploy to spur African-American turnout and prolong Harry Reid’s reign of error as majority leader. The last-minute Democratic appeals to a sense of grudge and victimhood amount to such shameless race baiting that even The New York Times and Politico, hardly bastions of conservative sentiment, expressed their implicit disapproval. “The images and words they are using are striking for how overtly they play on fears of intimidation and repression,” writes Jeremy W. Peters in the Times. James Hohmann at Politico notes that the radio ads, mailers and flyers have been “designed to escape widespread notice. Operatives are taking provocative messages that mass audiences might find offensive and targeting them at African American audiences.” (Snip) The problem for the president and his party is that the reality of the last six years has shattered the optimistic mood that briefly prevailed at the dawn of the Obama era. For the black community, Democratic leadership has failed to deliver on its grand promises, with the economic and social gaps between white and black growing larger rather than shrinking under the nation’s first non-white president. African Americans still face an unemployment rate that’s literally double that of their white neighbors while falling even further behind with stagnant wages and fewer job opportunities. Since Democrats can hardly cite their recent track record to inspire black people with hope and change they focus instead on scaring them with fear and chains.....(Snip)
