Richard Alarcon sentencing for perjury and voter fraud delayed a month
Soumya Karlamangla
Sept 10 2014

A judge delayed the sentencing on Wednesday of former Los Angeles City Councilman Richard Alarcon and his wife for their voter fraud and perjury convictions.

Superior Court Judge George G. Lomeli set the Alarcons' next court date for Oct. 14, when Lomeli will hear motions asking for a new trial and, pending that decision, could hand down a sentence.

(Snip)

Alarcon and his wife Flora Montes de Oca Alarcon were convicted in July of a total of seven counts of voter fraud and perjury for lying about where they lived so Alarcon could run for a council seat, which he held until last year.

Convicted of four felonies, Alarcon faces a maximum of six years in state prison, and Montes de Oca Alarcon faces five years and four months. Prosecutors are asking the judge to sentence Alarcon to 180 days in county jail as well as 1,000 hours of community service, and Montes de Oca Alarcon to 500 hours of community service.

Investigators Confirm 25 Cases of Fraud by Dem-Backed Voter Registration Group

wenty-five applications submitted by a Democratic voter registration group in Georgia are fraudulent and constitute one of the “larger” cases the secretary of state’s office has dealt with in years, Chief Investigator Chris Harvey said on Wednesday.

“I don’t think we’ve encountered [a case] that covers the number of counties and the breadth of counties, that deals with something of this serious nature. I can speak for the time I’ve been here,” said Harvey, “and knowing what we know now, with 25 confirmed forgeries in seven counties, I think it’s one of the larger ones we’ve dealt with.”

Harvey, who has held the position for seven years, appeared before the Georgia Election Board, along with Secretary of State Brian Kemp, to outline the case against the New Georgia Project, a group founded and run by the state’s top Democrat, Rep. Stacey Abrams.Scissors-32x32.png

Nevada Democrats: Are They All Crazy Here?

Posted on September 17, 2014 by The Political Hat

Ousted Nevada Assemblyman Steven Brooks was formally sentenced for leading California police on a car chase and then hitting a dog with a wrench:

“Brooks has already served 485 days in San Bernardino and Rancho Cucamonga jails, and with an additional 485 days of conduct credits, his sentence has been served in full. However, Deputy District Attorney Shannon Faherty said Brooks has two ‘extraditable holds’ for charges in Nevada, so he will ‘get on the bus’ back to jail and wait for his likely extradition.”

Of course, there is still plenty of craziness left in the Nevada Democrat Party: A Secretary of State who believes the rights of zombies trump the 1stAmendment; Scissors-32x32.png

Here America: Have Some More Filth to Go with that Government

Yes, the Democrats are that desperate. Smacked with the guy who has made his business to lead the loyal opposition to policies that hurt the country, the Democrats did something so foul, so mind numbingly stupid and so desperate that it out Nixoned Nixon in his worst of days. And in doing so, they’ve completed the transformation from political party to caricature.

Does Rick Perry's indictment disqualify him for 2016?!!! asks CNN, while fronting for the Dems. No, the indictment probably does not disqualify him. But Marco Rubio’s sip of water during a televised address should, right? Rubio’s problem was that he couldn’t get a grand jury to indict him on anything after he sullied the republic with a parched throat.

“The indictment and possible trial of Texas Gov. Rick Perry for allegedly applying illegal coercion to a district attorney will complicate -- but not kill,” writes Errol Louis at CNN, “his all-but-certain run for President in 2016. It's a sure bet that voters outside of Texas will forgive, ignore or overlook any outcome short of a conviction.”

With analysis like that, he should be named Error Louis.Scissors-32x32.png

Dem Gubernatorial Candidate Was Caught Getting Lap Dance In Strip Club During Police Raid

The Democrat nominee for the race to become Kansas’ next governor was caught red-handed in the late 1990s getting a lap dance at a rowdy strip club during a police drug raid of the establishment.

The nominee, state Rep. Paul Davis, explains the awkward situation was just a case of him being “in the wrong place at the wrong time.” Interestingly enough, the strip club he was “compromised” at was called “Secrets.”

“When I was 26 years old, I was taken to a club by my boss – the club owner was one of our legal clients,” Davis told Politico in a Saturday statement. “While we were in the building, the police showed up. I was never accused of having done anything wrong, but rather I was in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

While not charged with any crime in the incident that took place Aug. 5, 1998, the police reports of the event do not paint a flattering portrait for a man trying to defeat Republican incumbent Sam Brownback.Scissors-32x32.png

Ransom: Dems sold top House positions for $100,000; $200,000 for legislation

House Democrats, panicked after Newt Gingrich and the GOP shocked Washington by winning the House in 1994, became so obsessed with raising money to take back the chamber they even sold off top leadership jobs, according to a longtime Democratic fundraiser.

In an explosive book out next month, Lindsay Mark Lewis said that former House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt’s team set a price of $100,000 to be the top Democrat on every House committee, $100,000 on a trade deal and $200,000 for a tax proposal to be considered by the House Ways and Means Committee.

They also demanded that members raise money 12 hours a week and collect $1.5 million per election cycle or be put on a “deadbeat list.”

“For the first time in history, House Democrats had made money the central measuring stick of success,” wrote Lewis in Political Mercenaries. An advance copy, co-written by journalist Jim Arkedis, was provided to the Washington Examiner.Scissors-32x32.png

HUD Official Pleads Guilty To Stealing $843,000 In Taxpayer Funds

Former Housing and Urban Development loan specialist Brian Thompson pleaded guilty Thursday to stealing $843,000 of taxpayer money in a wire fraud scheme.

Thompson was responsible for selling properties acquired by the government after borrowers defaulted on their HUD-guaranteed mortgages. Specialists like Thompson were tasked with ensuring the sale of these properties at the best possible price to reimburse the government for taxpayer funds made to mortgage lenders for insured loans. Instead, he funneled portions of the proceeds into bank accounts he controlled, netting himself $843,000 in the process.

Thompson scheme went undetected for nearly a year. To conceal his fraud, he fabricated settlement documents with false sales prices and even buyer names.

“Brian Thompson exploited his government job to rob the American taxpayer of more than $800,000,” said U.S. Attorney Ronald Machen. “This crooked HUD employee diverted the proceeds of real estate sales from the U.S. Treasury to his own pockets through lies and trickery. He now faces serious prison time as a result of criminal breach of the public trust.” (RELATED: HUD Report Finds Nearly $700 Million Katrina Rebuilding Funding Missing)Scissors-32x32.png

THREE DAYS AFTER RE-ELECTION, DEMOCRAT STATE REP. CONVICTED ON SIX CHARGES

AUSTIN, Texas -- It has been an up-and-down week for Texas State Representative Ron Reynolds. On Tuesday, Reynolds, an attorney and Democrat representing Missouri Springs, coasted to an easy re-election, winning 66 percent of the vote against his Republican opponent. Wednesday, he was in a Montgomery County courtroom -- not to represent a client, but to face trial for 10 felony counts of "barratry," the illegal solicitation of clients by attorneys commonly referred to as "ambulance chasing." Finally, on Friday, he managed to avoid a felony conviction, but was found guilty of six misdemeanor counts for a lesser charge of "solicitation of professional employment."

As Breitbart Texas previously reported, Reynolds has had multiple ethical and legal problems since being admitted to the Texas Bar in 2000, including having his license to practice law suspended twice by the Texas Bar and a $10,000 fine by the Texas Ethics Commission for failing to file required campaign finance disclosures, which he failed to pay until after the Texas Attorney General sued him to collect and the Comptroller placed a "warrant hold" on his state reimbursement checks. These problems, coupled with his lack of legislative accomplishments, led Texas Monthly to brand him one of the "Worst Legislators of 2013."

Reynolds' latest troubles stem from a sting operation that led to his arrest, along with seven other Houston-area attorneys last year, accusing them of hiring a four-time felon named Robert Ramirez Valdez to illegally solicit clients for them. Texas law prohibits attorneys from soliciting clients for personal injury, wrongful death, and disaster claims. Valdez, currently serving a five-year sentence for his role, testified that the attorneys paid him thousands of dollars to read Houston police accident reports, and then make house calls to accident victims to solicit them to be clients for the attorney.Scissors-32x32.png

Charlotte, North Carolina Mayor Under Arrest for Illegal Voting on Tuesday

A federal judge has ordered the former mayor of North Carolina’s largest city under house arrest until he begins serving time for taking bribes because the ex-politician cast an illegal ballot in Tuesday’s election.

Under North Carolina law, a convicted felon loses the right to vote. At a bond revocation hearing Thursday, Patrick Cannon told a judge that he didn’t realize that.

Still, U.S. District court Judge Frank Whitney ordered him to home detention until the former mayor reports to federal prison on Nov. 18 for a nearly four-year sentence. Cannon will have to wear an electronic monitoring device.Scissors-32x32.png

HOUSE ETHICS PANEL PROBING CHICAGO CONGRESSMAN BOBBY RUSH FOR 20 YEARS OF FREE OFFICE SPACE

Chicago Congressman Bobby Rush (D-IL) is being investigated by the House ethics committee for somehow getting his Chicago South Side congressional offices rent free for 20 years, a violation of state and federal laws not to mention House ethics standards.

A new House ethics report finds that Rush escaped from having to pay upwards to $365,040 for about 20 years of rent.

The Office of Congressional Ethics report concluded that there was "substantial reason" to assume that the free rent was an in-kind contribution that violates House ethics rules.

The OCE has referred the investigation to the House Committee on Ethics, the group that has the power to issue any rebukes. The committee now must decide if it will initiate a full investigation.

In the 1960s, Bobby Rush made a name for himself as a vocal member of the Black Panther Party serving as the Chicago-based group's "defense minister."Scissors-32x32.png

NOTHING ON TERRY BEAN

Michele Malkin

If real estate mogul and deep-pocketed White House donor Terry Bean were a Republican, he’d be a household name by now.

Bean’s face would be splashed all over the covers of grocery-stand newsweeklies. The garrulous hostesses of ABC’s “The View” would be haranguing the GOP to return his campaign contributions. Child-welfare advocates would be demanding his resignation from top political advocacy and civic groups.

Media satellite trucks from NBC’s “Today” show would be parked outside the Lane County, Ore., Circuit Court on Dec. 3 for his first appearance.

And the New York Times archives would be teeming with thousand-word editorials and multiple lead stories about his grand jury indictment on horrifying sexual abuse allegations involving multiple victims — including a 15-year-old boy.

Instead, a search for “Terry Bean” on the left-wing paper of record’s website on Tuesday yielded exactly one story dated Jan. 16, 1880, about a Westchester County, N.Y., elder with that name — plus a sponsored advertising link to retailer L.L. Bean.

So, who is Terry Bean? He’s a wealthy, high-flying liberal and celebrated gay-rights activist who co-founded the influential Human Rights Campaign organization. He is also a veteran member of the board of the HRC Foundation, which disseminates Common Core-aligned “anti-bullying” material to children’s schools nationwide.

Bean shelled out more than $500,000 for President Obama and the Democrats in 2012. He was rewarded with an exclusive Air Force One ride with Obama. The president also gave the developer a special shout-out at an opulent fundraiser in Portland, where Bean’s family had established a longstanding political and corporate fiefdom. Bean gleefully rubbed elbows with first lady Michelle Obama and Bill Clinton — and made sure everyone on his Flickr photo-sharing site knew it.Scissors-32x32.png

Obama’s Close Friend and Golfing Buddy Labeled ‘Hostile Witness’ by Federal Prosecutors

President Obama’s long-time Chicago confidant and golfing partner Eric Whitaker is under fire from federal prosecutors, who labeled him a ‘hostile witness’ Tuesday

.

Whitaker is part of the ongoing trial of Leon Dingle, Jr., who allegedly stole more than $3 million in taxpayer dollars in a fraud scheme involving state grants. Whitaker refused to cooperate with federal prosecutors after they pointed out that Whitaker stood to benefit from the scheme.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported Tuesday:

He stopped cooperating after being asked about his relationship with Quinshaunta R. Golden, who was his chief of staff at the state agency and oversaw the awarding of millions of dollars in state grants and contracts to Dingle, according to prosecutors. Prosecutors had questioned Whitaker about whether he’d had a “sexual relationship” with Golden, a lawyer for Dingle revealed at an Oct. 1 pretrial hearing.Scissors-32x32.png

Former Democratic Aide Accused of Drugging Victim with Ambien Admits to Sexual Assault

Donny Ray Williams Jr., who once served as a staff director for the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs subcommittee, pleaded guilty Tuesday to sexually assaulting two women in 2010.

WaPo has the unsettling details:

Prosecutors say that on July 22, 2010, Williams invited a female congressional colleague to his Capitol Hill apartment and promised to introduce her to Senate employees. At the house, prosecutors said, Williams spiked a drink with Ambien. The woman, according to court documents, fell into a “deep sleep,” at which point Williams raped her.

A month later, prosecutors said, Williams invited another woman to his home and gave her alcoholic beverages. They said he had sexual contact with her when she was too intoxicated to give her consent.

In 2012, Williams flatly denied these allegations as 'absolutely and completely false.' Now, he's changed his tune, pleading guilty to four charges, including third degree sexual abuse, two misdemeanor charges of sexual abuse, and one charge of threats to do bodily harm.

Here are the consequences Williams faces, according to Wapo:

Williams had been indicted on 10 counts, but prosecutors agreed to dismiss the remaining charges. As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors said they would seek a suspended prison term and five years of supervised probation. Williams also would have to register as a sex offender for 10 years.Scissors-32x32.png

Tim LaLone You don't understand systemic prejudices vs personal ones. What this guy did is bad, no doubt. But the GOP definitely has a problem with talking about rape and taking it seriously. It's liberal California that's made consent explicit and continuous. And the right wing media is definitely supporting rape culture on a regular basis. So, she has a valid point.

VIRGINIA DEMOCRAT PLEADS GUILTY TO 'CONTRIBUTING TO DELINQUENCY' OF TEEN

Virginia Delegate Joe Morrissey, a leading progressive voice in the General Assembly, has accepted a plea deal to the charge of "contributing to the delinquency of a minor." The agreement stems from a relationship between the 57-year-old Democrat and a 17-year-old member of his legal staff.

Morrissey will serve three months in prison, but he has vowed to retain his seat in the state legislature.

Morrissey's deal with prosecutors averts a trial on felony charges for having sex with a minor and possessing child pornography. He entered what is called an "Alford plea." That means he maintains his innocence, but acknowledges there is enough evidence to convict him.

The trial was scheduled to begin next week. The minor, who works at Morrissey's law practice, is pregnant.

In accepting the plea deal, Morrissey's attorney maintained that the Democrat lawmaker was innocent. “Let me state unequivocally and uncategorically that he believes he is is [sic] not guilty of any crime; felony, misdemeanor — period,” said Morrissey's attorney, Ward Armstrong.Scissors-32x32.png

FEDERAL CORRUPTION CHARGES: SENATOR MENENDEZ ALLEGEDLY INTERVENED ILLEGALLY IN DOMINICAN PORT SECURITY DEAL AND $9 MILLION MEDICARE OVERBILLING CASE

A federal grand jury in New Jersey is expected to return a bill of indictment on corruption charges against Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) within the next several weeks. According to media reports, prosecutors in the Department of Justice have presented the grand jury with compelling evidence that Menendez abused the power of his office to provide illegal help to his close friend, Dr. Salomon Melgen, a Florida ophthalmologist born in the Dominican Republic, on several business matters involving the federal government in return for financial favors.

“Spokesmen for the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey both said they could not confirm or deny the report,” the New Jersey Law Journal reported late Friday.

Though lurid allegations that Melgen helped procure under-age prostitutes in the Dominican Republic for Menendez first captured headlines more than two years ago, it is the charges that Menendez used his position as Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to intervene on Melgen’s behalf in these personal business matters that would appear to be at the center of the pending federal case against Menendez.Scissors-32x32.png

If He Were a Catholic Priest Instead of a Democrat Operative, This Would Be News
Posted by V the K at 6:21 pm - May 14, 2015.

A Lefty Democrat Consultant with ties the mayor of San Francisco and other prominent left-wing politicians has been arrested on charges of possession of chil pr0n.

Prosecutors say Enrique Pearce was in possession of nearly 5,000 images of child pornography, including video. Some photos depicted children and infants being sexually assaulted. In some, the children are tied up.
The district attorney argues Pearce is a threat to public safety, because in addition to the pornography, investigators say they found more than 100 images on his cell phone showing boys ages 7 to 12, who do not appear to know they’re being photographed.

One boy was on a man’s shoulders at a Giants’ celebration at City Hall. The district attorney is also concerned that police say Pearce has told another man he’d like to share a boy with a man.

CAPITOL SCANDALS RAISE TOUGH QUESTIONS FOR NEW YORK GOVERNOR

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) -- They were Albany's most powerful men: the governor, the Senate leader and the Assembly speaker. Together, they negotiated billion-dollar budgets and decided which bills passed and which ones didn't.

Now two face federal corruption charges, and the third - Gov. Andrew Cuomo - appears eager to focus on other issues even as he faces questions about his ties to a major real estate firm at the center of the newest scandal to rock the state Capitol.

In recent days he talked about campus sexual assault with U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. He traveled to Buffalo with Cardinal Timothy Dolan to tout an education tax credit. He held briefings at the scene of a nuclear plant transformer fire.

The political crisis in Albany got less attention.Scissors-32x32.png

Federal Prosecutor Preet Bharara On New York's Political Culture: "We Have Corrosive Corruption in Our State Capital"

Unfortunately, too many attorneys and politicians only are interested in using their legal skills and elective office to game the system for their own benefit.

Democrats: The Party Of Fraud

The FTC recently cited several cancer charities for fraudulent practices. The charities gave false promises and misused funds for personal use.

The managers of the Cancer Fund of America used the proceeds to take vacations, give themselves high salaries, new cars and directed very little to the actual treatment of cancer.

This comes just two weeks after it was revealed that the Clinton Foundation has been doing exactly the same thing, but an FTC case has yet to be opened. This sounds very much like the way Bill and Hillary Clinton use the money from their Clinton Foundation. Only ten percent of the $252 million raised from 2011 to 2013 went to charitable grants. Instead they give their employees elaborate salaries, pay for their travel on private jets, expensive hotel rooms and so on.

The dollar amounts are there for everyone to see. It is interesting to note that while private cancer charities are being pursued by the FTC, so far the Clintons have not been investigated. Voters may wish to think about the different treatment Beltway Democrats receive from these Federal agencies. It may be useful to keep in mind that Federal agency employees support Democrats in elections and that JFK started Federal unions with an executive order #10988. Lawyers for the IRS gave money to Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. Inquiring minds may begin to see a connection here. Scissors-32x32.png

As Lawyer Defrauded Both Firm and Client, She Shelled Out Thousands to Democrats

The lawyer at the center of a federal investigation into whether she defrauded both her firm and client MasterCard for millions of dollars is a major Democratic donor who has made nearly $100,000 in political donations.

Keila Ravelo resigned from her law firm late last year after it learned that a U.S. Attorney in Newark, N.J., was investigating whether she and her husband set up multiple sham companies that were used to bill her own firm and MasterCard fees totaling more than $5 million. The settlement for the case was filed for approval in April 2014.

In the same timespan that Ravelo was working on the MasterCard swipe fee case, she was shelling out big money to the Democratic Party. In 2012 alone, Ravelo contributed $30,500 to the Democratic National Committee and made additional contributions to liberal groups such as Priorities USA, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and ActBlue.

Ravelo has doled out a total of $68,400 to the DNC, all coming since 2008.Scissors-32x32.png
