The Greece Central School District has handed down its punishment for the students who were involved in bullying a school bus monitor. Four Greece Athena 7th graders will be suspended for a year for bullying bus monitor Karen Klein.

After almost two weeks of investigating, the announcement came from the school district late Friday afternoon. The district says each of the four students involved and their parents have agreed to this punishment.

During the one year suspension, each student will attend an alternative program at the district’s reengagement center. They will also be required to complete 50 hours of community service with senior citizens and will also have to complete a formal program in bullying prevention, respect and responsibility.

Their investigation began after a YouTube video went viral around the world last Wednesday. It goes on for ten minutes and shows the four boys repeatedly harassing bus monitor Karen Klein on the last day of school.

All four students have since sent written apologies to Klein through the Greece Police Department. Klein has also met with some of their parents, but not the boys themselves.
