Planned Parenthood’s Bad, Bad Night

An untold story today following yesterday’s Pennsylvania primaries is what a bad, bad night it was for Planned Parenthood.

In Pennsylvania’s 134th House district, they spent an eye-popping $100,000 on a TV ad campaign trying to sink the candidacy of Republican Ryan Mackenzie by linking him to ultrasound legislation that was before the legislature.

As Politico noted, this was seen as a trial-balloon of sorts:

That trial balloon popped when MacKenzie cruised to victory by an 18-point margin, 59 percent to 41 percent.

Meanwhile, in Pennsylvania’s 31st district, former Planned Parenthood CEO and board member, Republican Helen Bosley, lost in the primary to a pro-life Republican woman, Anne Chapman. Thanks to the help of the Pennsylvania Family Institute, abortion played a central role in the race and again, it was no contest. Despite Bosley’s endorsement from the Bucks County Republican Committee, pro-life Chapman won with 63 percent to 37 percent – a commanding 26-point margin.

And on the Democratic side, they didn’t fare much better. In the tightly contested primary between Reps. Jason Altmire and Mark Critz, Altmire relentlessly attacked Critz – in TV commercials, in the mail, and in debates — for voting to defund Planned Parenthood. Altmire went down by four points, despite leading in most polls leading up to last night.

Now I am sorry that I don't have ebooks as I would like to read this new one by Heather King, as highlighted by the Anchoress:

Heather King’s Poor Baby

You have to be a pretty interesting person to be able to write three short, funny and spiritually wise biographies before you’re terribly old. Heather King is onesuch. She describes herself as “an ex-lawyer, ex-drunk Catholic convert” and upon reading her book Redeemed, I promptly fell in love with her work.

Then I actually began to correspond with Heather, (and corralled her into sharing some great stuff with Patheos) and came to love her person.

FOX Chicago News

Chicago - A Delta flight was quarantined after landing at Midway Airport Thursday afternoon.

WBBM Radio reports that a passenger on Flight 3163 from Detroit, who may have been travelling from Ghana, had some sort of contagious disease.

Reports of a medical emergency prompted fire and ambulance crews to race to the runway and surround the plane after it taxied to Gate A7.

The plane is not connected to the gate, but one of the doors is now open near the gate. Crews appear to have boarded the plane, but it is unknown whether they are letting anyone off.

The Chicago Department of Public Health is working in tandem with the Centers for Disease Control.

No further information has been provided.

Scissors-32x32.pngElizabeth Warren’s avowed Native American heritage — which the candidate rarely if ever discusses on the campaign trail — was once touted by embattled Harvard Law School officials who cited her claim as proof of their faculty’s diversity.

Warren’s claim, which surfaced yesterday after a Herald inquiry, put the candidate in an awkward position as campaign aides last night scrambled but failed to produce documents proving her family lineage. Aides said the tales of Warren’s Cherokee and Delaware tribe ancestors have been passed down through family lore.

Scissors-32x32.pngThere are many stories about Mitt Romney’s evil-doings when he ran Bain Capital, a $1 billion company famous for buying troubled companies and making money off them.

romney-smiling_thumb1.jpg?w=450&h=322

Some of the stories involve Bain laying off workers to make companies profitable, then selling them off.

Some of the stories involve Bain and Romney chopping companies to bits and selling off the parts.

This story is about Romney shutting down a thriving business over a woman. A young woman. A woman young enough to be Mitt’s daughter

.

Missing Girl

Her name name was Melissa Gay. She was the daughter of a business partner of Romney’s at Bain.

Melissa was 14-years-old when she went to a rave party, took some ecstasy, and disappeared.

It was July 6, 1996.

Melissa’s father was managing director of Bain Capital investment. He confided to Romney about his daughter’s disappearance a day after she disappeared. Did Romney keep the secret?

No. Romney told everyone. Everyone at Bain Capital, that is.

When Mitt learned that his partner’s daughter was missing, he shut down a billion dollar company and sent the senior managers into New York’s rave culture to find her. He authorized printing of 300,000 fliers to distribute. Some Bain employees ruined expensive shoes and suits, facing unprecedented dangers, looking for a girl.
