MRC Invades Times Square with Mammoth "Don't Believe the Liberal Media!" Billboards

February 21, 2012 – This morning, two massive Media Research Center (MRC) billboards totaling 1,684 square feet were hoisted in one of the world’s busiest pedestrian intersections – New York City’s Times Square. The objective: to hold the liberal media accountable.

MRC President Brent Bozell:

“There is no better location for this billboard than the liberal media’s own backyard. We promised this 2012 campaign would be the most expansive, most exhaustive and consequently the most expensive operation in our 25 years. We will keep that promise because this is the most important election in our lifetime and the American people are sick and tired of the left-wing media deciding who will govern our country.”

James Taranto, David Limbaugh Draw Jennifer Rubin's Wrath

Jeffrey Lord

(Snip)

Thus when Jennifer Rubin tweets (hat tip to Dan Riehl) that Taranto and Limbaugh are "Neanderthal jerks" it says more about Rubin then her targets.

Note that Rubin also says in one tweet that Santorum's "social views r unacceptable."

I could make a comment how Jennypoo and Ann Bones Coulter have sold their soul for a meeting with Romney, but that might be judgemental

Cato Institute Gave Romney a ‘C’ on Spending as Governor

DANIEL HALPER

2/21/12

During the four years that Mitt Romney served as governor of Massachusetts, the Cato Institute published two reports that graded the nation’s governors on spending. In the first, Cato gave Romney a “midterm” grade of a D. In the second, it gave him an overall grade of a C.

(Snip)

In issuing its final report on Romney’s term as governor, Cato wrote:

"Romney likes to advance the image of himself as a governor who has fought a liberal Democratic legislature on various fronts. That’s mostly true on spending: he proposed modest increases to the budget and line-item vetoed millions of dollars each year only to have most of those vetoes overridden. But Romney will likely also be eager to push the message that he was a governor who stood by a no-new-taxes pledge. That’s mostly a myth. His first budget included no general tax increases but did include a $500 million increase in various fees. He later proposed $140 [million] in business tax hikes through the closing of ‘loopholes’ in the tax code. He announced in May 2004 that he wanted to cut the top income tax rate from 5.3 to 5 percent, but that was hardly an audacious stand. Voters had already passed a plan to do just that before Romney even took office. In his budget for 2006, he proposed $170 million more in business tax hikes, almost completely neutralizing the proposed income tax cut."

From the article:

The advertisements, featuring the “Don’t Believe the Liberal Media!” motto, are the largest ad buy in the MRC’s 25-year history and will be featured for four weeks. More than 1.3 million onlookers in the highly trafficked intersection are expected to see the billboards which are valued at $180,000.

This iconic location has hosted ads by some of the most prestigious brands in the world, including DKNY and the New York Knicks, and it is the first placement of the MRC’s “Tell The Truth! 2012” campaign expected to total more than $5 million. Billboards with the same message are also planned for Tampa and Charlotte during the Republican and Democratic National Conventions later this year.

Santorum plays up immigrant roots in Arizona speech

snips.

Video at link

"The economy of this country is struggling, why? Because Americans are different than everybody else in the world. Your ancestors and maybe you came here because you wanted to be free. Your DNA is different than those who stayed behind," said Santorum at the Maricopa County Republican Party's Lincoln Day lunch.

"I know my grandfather came to this country and brought my dad as a boy, I've been back and visited my relatives. They are wonderful people, but they're nothing like my grandfather," he said.

“They weren't the man who worked for 30 years in a coal mine, digging coal, working hard every single day so he could provide for his son who might someday be able to get a college education or his grandson who might be able to run for president."

"When you put the yolk of government on a people who want to be free, who have a tradition, who have ancestry of hardworking freedom-loving people, who are willing to go out and fight for that, when you put that yolk upon them they bristle, they stop," Santorum said.

"We're different, we don't want to be ruled."

Can we look forward to an Occupy Billboard Movement?

Santorum: 'Satan Has His Sights Set on the US'

"Satan has his sights on the United States of America!" Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum has declared.

"Satan is attacking the great institutions of America, using those great vices of pride, vanity, and sensuality as the root to attack all of the strong plants that has so deeply rooted in the American tradition."

The former senator from Pennsylvania warned in 2008 how politics and government are falling to Satan.

"This is a spiritual war. And the Father of Lies has his sights on what you would think the Father of Lies would have his sights on: a good, decent, powerful, influential country - the United States of America. If you were Satan, who would you attack in this day and age?"

Well now:

Good read.

Stop Rick Santorum! He’s Frightening the Pundits!

Scissors-32x32.png

The reasons Santorum’s moral pronouncements produce cacophonies of harrumphing is that the media know he means it and that his values will cause him to pursue genuine conservative policies. They fear and loathe such people, pronounce their candidacies dead on arrival, but somehow have a nagging concern that enough “crazies” from Oklahoma or wherever might get to the polls and make him president

Whether it’s The Moral Majority, the Christian Coalition or the Tea Party, the liberal prognosticators of the Northeastern cities always say candidates who appeal to such values-based groups are losers.

These kinds of people are unelectable, they say. Until they are elected.

I'll miss it tonight. Fly, sleep, eat, fly, sleep, eat. It's physically tiring but theraputic for the mind. I hope Romney spends more time describing what he plans to do for the country than how bad the other Republicans are. And I hope Santorum and Gingrich ignore King's baited questions and tell the country why they are better than Obama. I'm not holding out much hope for Romney though.
