A New Beginning...

Bill Whittle

This is 90 minutes, and not an easy 90 minutes... but if you are feeling lost and full of despair perhaps it will help.

It is not cheerleading and it is not an Oprah hug. But it might be the start of something... something *wonderful.*

Just finished watching it. No clue if this can work, but I like the idea of people thinking, and playing a different game.

What he is talking about fits in with my thought that we are living in The Hinge Of History.

Wow. I need to watch that again. I think I'm ready to climb aboard that train. He is really on to a viable solution.

I really like Bill. I viewed this yesterday & have been thinking about it all night & this morning. He's as heartbroken as the rest of us.....and he is acting in a way that takes our minds off the reality of 4 years of O-crap, and helps us focus on positive aspects of our new lives. In reality, it seems a little naive.....considering that O-crappy government will find ways to regulate any of his financial endeavors. The main purpose of the progressive agenda remains.....top down, bottom up & squeeze the sides. The point of it all is one large class of people......all dependent on government......and a small elite class of rulers.

SrWoodchuck, I think the rise of grassroots driven businesses like Craigs list indicates there is some viability in what Whittle proposes. Like garage sales and bartering, it is hard for government to regulate everything. The key is to find the legal loopholes, and there are a lot more loopholes than there are regulations.

Like Craigs list, for Whittle's idea to take off, there needs to be an interested market. The status quo is a two party system. The lowest election turnout in decades for both parties indicates people are weary of a two party system. Yet, the Washington juggernaut makes it impossible for a third political party to gain enough momentum to be anything more than a spoiler. So Whittle's idea of initiating a movement outside of the political party system has a lot of appeal to me. That is how progress is made. You stop running headlong into the Maginot line, and you start looking for end arounds that allow an easier path to accomplishing your same goal.

My first impression after watching the video was that I would want to be part of this. Then I kept thinking . . . but what benefit could this have for an older retired person? I am hoping "they" do follow up; and if it makes logical sense, I would contribute.

Chickadee, what about a local network where a working parent can find a old retired person to pick their kids up after school in exchange for having the kids mow their yards on the weekend or shovel the driveway when it snows. Or an older retired person can cook a meal to be frozen and used later in a working parent's home, in exchange for someone to come in and maintain the health of their computers and electrical equipment.

Small examples, but the point is creating a community that doesn't rely on the government to get things done. Right now, we have to pay for our kids to ride the school bus. I'd much rather pay my elderly neighbors to pick them up. They'd get tax free income. My kids wouldn't have to pay to ride a school bus in which kids are watching porn on their IPhones. And both sides would benefit from the interaction. That gets back to the virtue thing he's talking about.

@Rokke

I like the barter thing, but realistically.......there will be 16,500 more IRS agents involved w/O-crappycare.....I just think Whittle good intentioned plans will be attacked with Treasury regulations, tax code & executive orders....until they can put a pyramid scheme hex on it. Just naturally pessimistic. I think your idea of utilizing seniors is a great idea, and barters / exchanges that are done in churches & synagogues, might be a good way to thumb your nose at the critters.

Edited to add: I think the ennui of voters is naturally programmed in yutes youths. Voting is nothing like Call of Duty XVI.....and you have to stand in line with stinky older people that resemble your 'rents.

Well, I may inquire with my dentist. If he wants the $4800 balance, I'll clean his toilets and vacuum at night., you know how I love to clean.biggrin.png
